That would be my only concern, there's a chance it went out as a loaner or someone had an "extended test drive" and brought it home for the night or something.

I had 150 on mine, dealer transfer, meh. Just start taking some non-highway miles ASAP for breakin. Otherwise, let 'er rip. If it's the truck you want, go for it.

I had 40 or so miles on mine when I got it. but was likely from test drives (as Im pretty sure i test drove it at another dealer) and driving it to the new dealer on the transfer.

Reading some of these posts many of these trucks have a number of miles on them before their owners received them. Imo, these are like used vehicles, or demo's, and should have a healthy discount. I know i'd be pissed if picking up a new truck with over 50 miles on them.

Replacing a clutch down the road might not be too expensive if done yourself, but all the wear, and tear on the rest of the drivetrain doing 5k clutch dumps.....priceless.

My, I'd be like take it back they should have about minimum of 2-4 miles on it or a proper PDI wasn't done. They need to be driven around 3 miles at least 8yrs ago, when I worked at a Dodge dealership

Admittedly, I'm unreasonably particular about this but I told the dealership up front that two or more digits on the odometer was not going to work. Mine had 4 when I drove it off the lot. I actually tried to get them to skip the PDI but they refused.

    Somewhere hot, flat and brown.
    Why?

“customer states...” is how EVERY SINGLE service ticket starts. Even if new car sales wants to lard up a new truck on the lot that isn’t selling with some new bling, they service rep writing up the job starts the ticket with something stupid like “customer states tires need inspection” or something like that.

    nothing to worry about.

My new 2021 TRD OR was located 250 miles away and so the odometer read 250 when I left the dealership with it. I prefer the odometer to read 5 or 6 miles but after a couple of months its irrelevant. Trucks are hard to come by now so I took the closest available that was equipped like i wanted. I paid no money down and inspected the truck thoroughly before signing any papers.

The miles on the truck could also be they took it on a dealer trade. The dealer where I got my truck had to exchange a truck for mine. They drove a new truck 250 miles and returned with mine with 250 miles. It's a common practice in my area. It's the trade off for getting the color and options you want. I could have bought a truck off the lot that wasn't close to what I wanted with only a few miles. That was not an option for me.

You bought a "new" truck. It has 150 miles which is not new.
I would voice my concern to the dealer and state they honor the contract.
If not a reasonable monetary difference would be acceptable to both parties.
You have a contract in hand, bottom line.

Yeah so they said and fair enough. I didn't make a big deal about it. They were far more accommodating of my "don't touch it" requests than I anticipated.

There was 4 miles on the odometer when I took delivery. It had 1 mile when I test drove it.

I'd pay $200 extra if I can witness the truck being unloaded off from the vehicle transport trailer, and then I already pre signed the paperwork and can drive off right at that moment when the wheels touch the ground. Dealers might let you do that if you throw in some incentive for them to break the rules.

Hell yeah. I considered trying something like that but it would have been difficult to orchestrate as I bought out of state. I had the dealership GM call me at one point asking if I was trying to export the truck overseas because of my "unusual requests" lol

Most, on here dump on a new Tacoma driver for not test driving, driving, driving when they complain that their new truck has a problem. Time is money and most salesmen try to steer you back to the dealership to close the deal and if you're not going to buy, then the vehicle will have lower miles.

Not everyone is qualified to inspect a vehicle before taking ownership, or wanting to pay someone to do so. I guess thats what warranties are for, but problems still can show up far down the road. I blame owners for letting this happen, until guys stop excepting this practice, dealers will take the cheapest way out to make the largest profit.

I would drive it and if you like it buy it, but make sure to try and have the dealer lower the price a bit more. I bought mine 'new' with ~700 miles on it. In my case the vehicle was a transfer from one lot to another, plus the dealership delivered it via driving ~350-400 miles to my town.

I did not pay a dime until I inspected and drove the truck in person.
