You should be at 5 gallons left in the tank when the light comes on, don't know about miles because it will vary.

That seems like a lot of fuel left to have the light on.

I haven't yet run my truck to the light, but I've run it to the E line and I've never taken more than 15 gallons to refill the tank, and it's a 21 gallon tank. I'm guessing that those above are right and the light comes on really, really early.

Thing is, There is about 4 gals left when the light comes on. This is gonna very vehicle to vehicle. AND, depending on the current mpg average at the time, thats gonna dictate DTE. Also, being as the Fuel Pump is in the tank, and cooled by the suronding gasoline, its a good idea to try and keep it above 1/8 tank,.

I usually keep my tank above 3/4, for this reason. I know it's overkill.

And that seems to vary. Some people have 4 gallons left. I know one guy that had 5. Not something to rely on.
