I have a 2014 Tacoma TRD off road V6 4x4 dbl.-cab. Toyota window sticker says it should get 21 mpg interstate and 18 mpg city. I checked mpg today and average is 18.7 mpg. at nearly 100% interstate use at 50/55 mph:confused:. NO lead foot here and no mods on the truck, all stock. I`m not at all happy with this number. One of those chips that claims to boost mileage/HP is on my mind. Do those chips work as advertised? How will it affect my warranty if I install one?

    5100's all around. Front's set at 1.75" 265/75/16 Duratracs.
Get use to it. Its not going to get much better. And no the chips don't work.

I've owned a Tacoma double cab 4x4 for over 6 years and very, very, very rarely broke 20 MPG. Seriously, I can count on one hand how many times I broke 20. I was always right around what you're claiming, 19 MPG. I wouldn't be upset with that all. Chips don't work as stated above. The truck might loosen up a bit as the engine breaks in but not much will change with your MPGs.

18.7 MPG looks great to me. I never got that when I was stock. Go buy a Prius if you need some good MPG.

How long have you had the truck? My 2013 was the same way until it started breaking in. I am only at about 13,000 miles and it has been constantly improving if you account for the loss due to different modification. I can get 18 now with tons of weight in the back, a plate bumper, and 33" mud tires.

As with any vehicle, you'd be lucky to see the numbers on the sticker consistently.

break the engine in a little more, and realize you're driving a 4x4 truck. We don't get very good MPGs :(

I get 14-15 with my tires...I'd be ecstatic to get 19 haha

I drive with a light foot. I bought the truck Dec. 24, 2013. It has about 2100 miles on it.

    Too few to list.
You'll get better mpg's with summer blend gas. I think I started seeing better mileage after 5K miles.

It's 16/21, so 18 combined is about right. Just saying. If I was lucky I would get 21 with my prerunner doublecab. So I would say 18 aint bad. I get about 16-18 with a 3 inch lift and E rated 33's on my accesscab 4wd. Plus its winterblend right now. This and the octane will all contribute.

If winter fuel is still at the pump you are going to see a little less than average fuel economy. Something else to factor in.

EDIT: DriverSound and usafwx beat me to it.

Those numbers are under optimal conditions. Of course manufacturers want to advertise their best/optimal numbers.

My average MPG has been increasing as I've put more miles on my truck. As others have stated winter gas will see a drop in MPG vs summer blend. 18.7 isn't bad honestly. I've hit 21 a couple times but typically fall between 17-19.

I do slightly more highway miles, but it's a bit hilly.

I have a decent amount of added weight: Access Cab 4x4 (4wd), rock sliders, full set of skids, snug top cap. I'm slightly lifted as well (ICON stage 4t kit).
