My work truck said 30 miles to empty and went down to 10 but then when I filled the tank and now it only says 50 miles to empty. How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Timothy

Maybe try third Gen forum? I don’t have that feature on my second Gen.

Sometimes you need to drive it a while. Don't do anything yet. Personally, I think that is the most useless feature on newer vehicles, I never look at it on the 2 vehicles I own that have it. When you got to 30 miles to empty you were pretty close to bone dry. When you get to less than 2-3 gallons in the tank lots of bad things can happen.

Interesting side story. Three years ago, we took 2 of our grandkids to Colorado in my F150. They had part of the road to the top of Pikes Peak closed. They were parking cars about a mile from the top and bussing people the rest of the way. They saw a 4X4 truck and directed me to park on a STEEP section near the back of the lot. I had over 1/2 tank, in a 36-gallon tank showing over 300 miles to empty when I parked.

When I started the engine when we got back it said 2 miles to empty, then 0. The fuel gauge was below "E" as well. All the fuel had run to the front of the tank and it messed up the sensors. It didn't start reading correctly for quite a while. But I knew I had plenty of gas. I suspect that when you let it get that low it messed up the sensors in your tank as well and it may take a while to get back to normal.

I just set my trip meter and use it. I know how far I can go on a tank of gas. And I don't run my tank dry.
