Hey guys maybe someone on here can help me. When I bought my Tacoma I was getting like 320 miles to empty on a full tank fully stock. 2 month later I got bigger wheels tires and leveling kit. And noticed my miles to empty dropped to 270 on full tank today I hit 5k miles took my truck in for maintenance didn’t pay attention to the miles to empty and I pumped gas got home. And 5 hours later (right now) my screen rewards 340 miles to empty... what could have caused that ???

Mine changes often, wintertime it tanks and will rebound, it’s wonky if you tow for a couple tanks also.

One thing I did find out from experience is my truck is very accurate. Sometimes it might say 280 after a fill up, sometimes less, but when it gets close to zero the truck isn’t kidding.

If you want answers ditch the screen for a few months and look up how many gallons your tank holds, calculate your mpg by hand, and see how many gallons you had left each time you filled up and then extrapolate. It’s good to know your range in summer, winter, around town, on the interstate, back highway, off road, etc. very generally speaking, without any computer aids since they can be inaccurate from fill-up to fill-up with diverse driving conditions. ✌

Mine is very consistent. Consistently wrong that is.
I just ignore it, it’s worthless. But it does always read about 270 to empty on full tank, and Ive never get more than about 230.

I think 340 might be some preset-level because mine always rebounds to that as well. On the interstate, the "miles to empty" tends to not be as accurate for me, as I am getting better than expected MPG and will usually end up getting 360-380 miles until it reads "0".

I've also noticed that there's around 3-4 gallons reserve after you hit "0 miles" (around 80 or so more miles).

Bigger tires and a lift have negative impact gas milage, more at 11

I had a 2017 and just got a 2021. Only mods have been tires swapped to stock size falken wildpeaks on both trucks. Tank average has been comparable between the two so far, but total range has been lower with the new truck. Algorithms I suppose

The higher the number the less accurate it is

After getting 15.5 mpg I stopped caring alltogether and just fill it up with 93 octane because I'm starting to go a little crazy.

322 miles round trip to work and my 2017 always says 400-405 miles to Empty after a fill up ... last tank I got 315 miles before the light came on ... calculate your own MPG and don't trust the computer.
