That makes sense to me, but how the fuck are people claiming 450 miles? Is that all freeway driving and a deal with the devil?

A break in will make a big difference in MPG. I've been getting 21.5-24.5 recently at mostly 70 MPH. Keep in mind that as temps drop and winter comes your MPGs will also drop.

The 4 cylinder 2WD access cab gets 23mpg highway. So a 23 mpg multiplied to a 21.1 fuel tank gets 485 miles.

    Interesting non-problem.

Use a little math. If you get 18 mpg with a 20 gallon tank then you have a range of about 360 miles. Don't care what the ID10T cluster indicates.

There are 2 methods to monitor, use a trip set or the little needle near the robot with 1 arm. When he points to E, then its time to fill. When the trip set indicates 350 miles, then it time to fill. Trip set have common usage on motorcycles to anticipate when to fill the go-go tank.

I'm on 35s with steep bumpers, full skids, rear swing out and camper shell. I'm heavy as hell.

I get over 400 miles average and I’m on 285s. I just keep the shifts under 2k and try not to speed. Commute 45 miles one way and enjoy the drive! When I had 265s I would get over 450 miles per tank.

I mean, I could eat ramen all day and save money on my monthly food budget, but sometimes you want to indulge and put your toe into in a bit.

All the Tacomas that I have ever had that hit the empty light was able to go an extra 50 miles before totally dried empty. So there is a reserve pass the empty light. When you fill up you never get the real amount because there is some fuel left in the tank.

While true, it's still probably prudent to fill up around the 'empty' mark.

After fill up mine says 385 miles to empty 95% of the time. A few times it says 415.

I've got an ultraguage and it has good agreement with the cluster MPG numbers.

The DTE on the ultraguage is based on the tank capacity. The DTE on the cluster seems to gives about a 2 gallon (25-40 mile) hedge. My understanding for this is so that there's a couple gallons floating around as an "emergency" reserve so that the pump always has an adequate amount of fuel around it for cooling and consistent flow.

It is hard for me to explain cause here in Canada is the metric system of which I hate. My tank holds 80 liters ( 21 gals) and usually get 600 km ( 373 miles) and when I hit empty and I fill up it usually takes 64-66 liters ( 16-17 gals )which means that there was still 14- 15 liters ( 3-4 gals) in the tank before fill up. I don't do this all the time I usually fill up when I am at 1/4 tank or less. Also our gallons are bigger than the U.S so I get about 25-26 mpg while you guys get 21-22 mpg u.s. if I am right.
