Almost as much fun as the red line around an AWACS. They tend to be serious about that one.

Back a few years ago, an F-117 came to the air guard base for an open house. The Monday after the 117 was still there. They let us walk around it and look in the cockpit. As I was walking under it I put my hand up and touched the leading edge of the wing. The security cop approached me and told me not to touch the aircraft!! I still don't understand why!

This is/was my favorite jet to work on. We should have modded them or made new ones. http://www.c141heaven.com/ I turn wrenches on the C-17 now.

Would you still rather be working on C-141s or C-17s?

That is a hard question to answer. After 14 years on the 141, I new it like the back of my hand. I gettin there with the 17. One thing for sure, I hate working C-5's.

That's funny. I have a friend that was a loadmaster on C-5s. He loved that jet but hates the 17.

Think of the 17 as a flying computer...a 1980's computer. On a C-5 or 141 a lot of the work, requardless of career field, is in your hands not a computer. Plus the C-5 is know as a Per Diem hunter.
