They are chambered for 5.56/.223. My varmint upper that I'm waiting on is just .223.

The AR is patriot's rifle. The 5.56/.223 is my most favorite cartridge. I can carry 2x as much ammo on me if SHTF than someone with .308 or a similar round. It's big enough for people, coues deer and zombies. ;)

Hearsay hogwash. I'd like to see the studies that support this nonsense theory.

It is well known that a simple brain injury can incapacitate a zombie and yes, the flesh has softened. However, you are failing to take into account the petrification of the skull. The mineralized skull is very tough and 223's will usually ricochet off. Then what are you going to do? Yep, that's right. You're going to come ask if you can borrow one of mine.

If you're lucky, I'll be in a generous mood when you ask.:)

I actually do like the 223. Great survival caliber. They are very light and they can handle bad guys while putting small game on the table. I have a few thousand rounds of 308 and I must admit they are quite heavy. I just love my guns because they are much rarer than AR's.

I've also been thinking about getting a Beretta CX4 Storm. They don't seem to have ever really caught on but I've always thought they were cool little carbines. I like that they use pistol rounds too. They make it in 9 mm, 40 s&w, and 45 acp. If you're using it for home defense, the big slow bullets are less likely to over penetrate and end up in the neighbor's house.

I say hogwash to you sir. ever heard of FMJ? To take out a zombie all you need is to inflict severe brain trauma. I think that a bullet going in one side and out the other would qualify as severe brain trauma:cool:

read up. You no longer have an excuse for such a ridiculous statement:D

FMJ's ricochet even worse. Sure a direct hit is going to zip right on through but any glancing blow is flying worthlessly off into space. You must keep in mind that a petrified skull is essentially a stone skull! The only sound method to reduce ricochet is to use slower, heavier projectiles. Just ask any African big game hunter. Big and slow mashes through bone.

My work filter has appropriately screened out the website link to your propaganda codswallop. Perhaps if I'm in the mood for a good laugh I'll read through it tonight at home.

    I've lost count....
We all know proper zombie extermination involves not only high capacity guns, but also manageable, hard-hitting rounds. While I grab the 12 gauge w/ 3.5" magnum shells for extremely close range shots, I'll keep this thread fairly on-topic by sticking with centerfire rifle cartridges.

Left to right: .223, 7.62, .45-70 Govt.....ain't too much gonna get up after being smacked by a 300-500 grain hollow point coming at you like a freight train. It'll take out 4-5 zombies with one shot...assuming they are in a fairly straight line :D

Zombies skulls are not petrified! thats pretty funny actualy. They are nothing more than rotting flesh and crunchy bones.
But since you have taken the path to just being down right silly:D this is the gun I choose
    gun that shoots electrified sawblades

    Approximate Pre-Holocaust Price:
Free - this perfect weapon exists only in the mind of the reviewer (or very distant future)
    Approximate Post-Holocaust Availability:
It really depends how far in the future we're talking about. Two hours after the apocolypse? Next to none. Two thousand years after the apocolypse? Everybody'll have one. Mine will be scented with jasmine.
    Benefits:
A gun that shoots electrified sawblades could be a formidable weapon against a shamblor. Each sawblade, almost a foot in diameter and highly charged with electricity, will be hurled towards the braincase of any threatening zomblors at speeds of nearly one thousand miles per hour. Should the blade strike the shamblor's neck, the force of the blow would easily remove the head, while the electric shock would instantly melt the brain contained therein. If one's aim is a bit too high, and the victim is struck anywhere on the cranium proper, the spinning blades would cleanly sever the skull along its axis of trajectory. Limbs could be easily removed, and the electricity contained in each blade would throw enough current to power a suburb. Eyeballs would immediately explode, sending thick rivulets of vitreous humor pouring down a shamblor's hollowed cheeks. The skin would char quickly, sloughing off in ashen pieces begining around the strike zone and continuing across the corpse. Finally, the corpse would fall awkwardly to the ground, shaking and writhing in the sickening "dance of the blue arc."
    Drawbacks:
Dude - I totally made that shit up.
    Overall Effectiveness Score:
10 of 10. There's no question that if such a weapon were to exist, it would be the absolute best anti-zombie weapon ever.*

*Unless they made some kind of gun that shot out velociraptors who were immune to zombification. And that gun also gave me handjobs.
