MGS Gunner/ ATGM VC (fill in/extra body where needed as we were down on numbers)
    Started out as an 11B.
    OSUT Fort Benning
Did the infantry job for a year then got asked if i wanted to be on a MGS. (brother was already in and a crew member at the time.)
So i went and played Tanker with my brother for a few years. Never did reclass to 19k as they decided that MGS crewman should be 19D.
So Reclassed 19D stayed on the MGS till its divesture, and finished my last year on an ATGM.

Shattered my left foot in AIT. Medicaled out and sent home.

Long story short, my boots caused stress fractures in basic due to high arches and no support. The stress fractures were misdiagnosed as plantar fasciitis in basic. In AIT my foot just crumpled and couldn't take anymore. I broke 36 different bones in my left foot. The drill sergeant nearest me heard it break and even he about got sick and almost tossed his cookies.

The foot has never been the same. They (V.A.) want to operate on it. I won't let them. 40% chance of rupturing other ligaments and tendons and losing some or all sensation in my foot and damaging nerve endings. Some of the bone fragments are embedded in the ligaments and tendon strands.

I've learned to manage it. Standing in line or standing in one place for longer than 4-5 mins is unbearable. Walking is ok because it quickly shifts the weight on and off. Running is a no go.

Some dreams just aren't meant to be I guess.

You didn’t miss much by not doing your time as a yankee.
