I have been here a while and have posted in the military forum, but have never posted in this thread. I see that there is at least one other B-52 guy on here. I was at Barksdale from 2005-2008 and am now ANG working Ground radio for an ASOS TACP squadron.

na i have no idea yet. thats so far away for me to even think about ha and it all depends on how well i do in primary if/when i make it there. in a perfect world though i'd like to fly helos and try to get in with NSW and fly them around cause i've got a couple buddies that are Os with the Teams. but that is a longshot to say the least. flying after the navy would be sweet though so i'll hafta look into it when i get there. thanks rme

i'll honestly be happy with just making it through and getting winged. i'll be happy to fly anything they give me and get an opportunity to serve my country. i'm hoping i'll like flight school and stuff too cause a part of me right now is wishing i had signed up for something that was on the ground and let me carry a rifle and be in the fight. time will tell.

That sounds like an awesome job. I would love to be a ground rat of I could get into a squadron like that. Do you know how that goes in active duty? Just luck of the draw if you get a TACP squadron?

Not sure man, I got super lucky with this one, i had an interview at the bomb range up north and i got jerked around for the better part of a month and gave up and asked the recruiter what else he had and he hooked me up here. Perfect timing too, because they had just opened up a full time tech. slot here. So i will end up getting a wg-11 full time job here. I know some of the guys that are ground rats on active duty ASOS orders and they love it. just not sure how to go about getting the orders cut for it. Plus with this damn 3D conversion i have no clue how that will work.

Congrats on ocs and the flight school, I've been trying to fly with the army as a warrant officer, but I haven't been picked up yet. For now I'm in the PATRIOT missile systems and can't wait to get out of it. I just want to fly and serve my country still, it's a great feeling.

I wish this conversion was easier for us ASOS guys. We don't belong in the Air Force. We are our own branch.
