Milky Oil Cap, Blown Head Gasket?

Is this a telltale sign of a blown head gasket? I haven't noticed any coolant loss, white smoke, overheating, or anything like that. I think the cap may have just gotten wet when I changed the oil last time because it was raining outside.The truck is a 2008 4.0L Prerunner.

Nope. You’re just short tripping in cold weather.

clean it up and drive on. That engine will keep ticking (literally) until you stop putting oil in it.

 

to make sure look on dip stick if look like your oil cap definitely your head gasket blown.

 

That's a telltale sign of condensation.

Block test would be telltale sign of HG leak.

 

Confirm lots of short trips?

 

It's a 100%, no doubts, absolutely sure sign you have moisture in the crankcase.

Mine looks like this every year, never had any issues and have done lots of oil analysis samples

 

Check oil dipstick.

 

Go for about a hour ish drive on the highway then recheck. If you're not losing any fluid then you're probably okay.

lt's a good idea to hit the highway for atleast an hour every two weeks or max once a month to get everything warm and clean up the engine a bit from condensation and fuel dilution along with making sure your battery gets a full charge. Especially in the winter time

Thats the result of being too quick and shutting down fast

Go at it for a long time and you wont see that messy buildup

Drain the oil. If mild shake comes out then you may have a head gasket problem needing further diagnosis.
