Hey everyone, I went to check out a 2009 Tacoma Trd Off road today at a dealership and after about a 20 minute test drive I looked in the engine bay and noticed that there was some milky oil around the cap and fill tube I assumed this meant coolant had seeped into the oil since the truck had warmed up to operating temp and probably would have boiled any condensation(I live in Michigan and have had colder temps recently around 26-36°F) so I didn’t buy it. But I was wondering if anyone thought otherwise and if the truck might actually be ok and I should buy it.379D470A-B749-4331-9176-0ADCDB9D91DB.jpg 5574A0EE-F411-47EB-80D5-450AAFB5F78C.jpg

Normal on the 1GR engine in cold weather and short trips. Mainly because of the extended fill neck causing condensation in the neck. Pull the dipstick and the oil will look normal. Take it for a good drive and it will clear up.

Yeah that is probably fine. Seen it a few times in colder weather. The dealership probably would have told you if they drained a milkshake from your truck. I'd you want to be sure, drain and fill it again yourself.

I took it for a 20 minute drive I assumed that would be long enough for any of it to go away since it was at operating temp the whole time.

I've seen it a few times on the wife's 2013, maybe not quite that bad but close. Seen it close to that bad within the last month at 95k mile oil change. She drives 7 miles to work then 7 miles back every day. I was a little concerned myself, so reading these post reafirms my thoughts that it just never gets hot enough to burn the moisture out.

Mine does that in the winter cause I only live 1.5 miles from work. If I drive the 30 mins up to the resort to ski on a weekend it's gone by the time I get there

There is a difference between milky oil and milky oil filler cap. Drivers of older German air cooled cars call it engine mayo.
