if you do a lot of short trips, that will accumulate. Just wipe it and continue. harmless, but try to drive longer

Normal. Short trips and not getting to normal operating temps cause it.

It's just condensation evaporated from the motor. A long road trip, getting the engine nice and hot, it will get eaten up.

Are you saying just in general because yeah I only live 10 minutes from my job and that’s about all the commuting that I do. But thank you for the advice!

Completely normal. I used to get this on short trips all the time with Castrol. Switched to Mobil and no issues no matter how short the trip or temperature. Now, I'm not saying this is a "solution" as it might not work for every truck, but seeing as this is nothing to worry about, just a suggestion. I don't know enough about oil to have a good explanation for why my truck did it with Castrol but doesn't with Mobil.

A ten minute commute everyday will not necessarily hurt anything but the engine never gets to temperature long enough to "burn" off the moisture in the engine and exhaust. A good long run from time to time will help with that. But a vehicle must serve it's master's needs and the Tacoma will be okay.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’m going to guess it’s condensation inside the block that gets circulated into the oil (like the moisture that builds on the windshield on cold humid nights) and makes milky steamy shit). On occasion I’ve noticed a small amount of water come out the Fumoto drain valve first before the oil comes out.

Hey fellas, I drive a short commute each day as well. Bought a second gen earlier this year and I had more build up than pictured on the cap. Figured it was nothing to worry about given the short trips. Changed oil a week ago and just made a long drive (Iowa to Michigan) and checked oil. Levels are fine but the sludge is still on the cap.

Truck has been running fine. No issue or signs of overheating and the coolant level has not changed. Any advice?

Just continue on. Do you use an aftermarket oil filter?

I use to get that when the dealer did the free services during first 25k miles. Switched to mobil after that and have not seen it again. Freaked me out the first time too.
