No new coils upfront. I replace the front assemblies entirely with the middle-of-the-road brand for now.

Does anyone know if you require longer U bolts for these leafpacks?

You do. Wheelers sells a set .

My only concern would be that the Dakars are going to give you about 2" of lift in the rear with an unloaded truck. If you're still stock height on the front that's going to be a little odd. Are you going to pull a leaf?

I can't get that brand through my local supplier. Do you know what length u bolts are need?

I had a 2" blocks in the back and when I removed them the front of the truck looked perfectly fine as is. I was hoping with the new leafs it would just look a little higher than the front as is now.

If I'm reading the Wheeler's website correctly (and my whiskey sour tells me that I am :)) then they are 6.75 inches long.

Well, if the blocks were 2", then it's going to look like you just put the blocks back in. Maybe a little higher.

    Thank you for your info.
I guess we'll trust the whiskey interpretation!

LOL. Warning, all requests for information or advice after 7pm Mountain Time are subject to alcoholic distortion. :)

The U-bolts that Wheeler's sells to go with the Dakars have the same SKU (WHE U6754X) as the ones listed , which have a length of 6.75".

Wednesday I installed my new spark plugs and yesterday while I had the intake off during the cleaning I ran out a picked up a new PCV to replace the very sad looking and sounding old one.
I think the progress thus far calls for a dancing banana.

I picked up some goodies today.
For some reason one shock came with two sets of bushings.

A couple of pictures of the fuel filter and bracket I removed from the runner.
    Eeeek
Will need to patch the line.

Another picture of some of the parts I have to work with. Either for the Tacoma or 4 Runner.

Also I picked up a leak down tester or cylinder leakage tester to go with my compression tester.
I plan on doing both tests to each vehicle.

    Fuel filter just arrived.
Less than $2 Can plus shipping lol.
    Bracket included. Blowout price.
Came in a car quest box. That's a local parts store here, not sure if it exists in the US.

How does one rotate the engine on the 3.0 and the 3.4 V6?
I'm used to 4cyl honda engines that you can just put a socket on the crank bolt and spin.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
    Edit:

Remove the fan for better access but you can access the bolt on the vibration dampener pulley.

Finished up the exhaust work on the 4Runner today.
Got it inspected, got a permit and insured it.
The Tacoma is officially off the road and the 4Runner is on the road!

A picture of the 4Runner getting inspected this past Friday.
Why is this part of owning a vehicle so stressful? Maybe it's just me.
All it needed was a front sway bar link.
Not bad for a 21 year old truck.
I mentioned this before but the previous owner was a woman and she may as well be a car guy because she is a superstar with maintenance. I'm talking maintenance, not fixing things because they have broken.
    She was the original owner.
