Picked up some PAG 46 Compressor Oil.
Now all I need is to get a scale that will handle at least 30lbs and reads in ounces as well.

    BTW ND 8 = PAG 46

A few words of advice on charging your ac system.
    1. If using a manual gauge set and scales, be sure that the scale is placed flat and that the yellow hose is not "pulling" to cause a error in the scale accuracy.
    2. Most yellow hoses do NOT have a schrader valve on them. If yours does not, then when you disconnect the hose from the pump and connect it to the refrigerant bottle, you will allow air into your system. Connect the RED hose to your vacuum pump, yellow hose to tank, blue hose to truck. turn OFF the tank valve, leaving the hose connected. vacuum the system for at LEAST 15 minutes to remove moisture from the truck lines if any is present. Turn OFF the red valve on the gauge manifold. Turn OFF the blue valve. Turn on the tank valve (this will charge the yellow hose with pressure) Slowly turn ON the blue valve and watch your scale until you reach the proper weight charged. Turn OFF the tank valve. (leave blue valve on) Start truck, turn on AC system and watch for gauge on blue side to drop down to around 30 PSI. (Or when it gets steady close to that pressure) Turn OFF blue valve. System should be charged properly.

So the transmission kick down cable is about to snap.
I have no clue why it looks 50 years old and the other two look new.
This may sound like the answer is obvious but, is it needed?

I would recommend taking a look at replacing it. The cable is not very expensive.

For Some reason the FSM states the AC system should be charged on the high side with the truck off. No where else do I see these instructions. Any Thoughts @BamaToy1997?

It states :Do not operate the low pressure hand valve when the system is being charged with liquid refrigerant."
This means that you should charge GAS on the low side, not liquid. If you have the fill tank with the valve on top while you charge, that is gas. If you invert the tank with the valve DOWN, that would be liquid.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
It adjusts the shift pressure based on the throttle to inhibit sloppy/slipping shifts. You can just pull it all the way through and 'stopper' it until you get a replacement. The shifts will be a bit more sudden and jerky but won't hurt anything. Might even prolong the trans by keeping the clutches from slipping.

    Ok
Instruction a says to open the high side, then charge the system, then close the high side.
    Thus I am confused.
The picture shows the tank inverted.

Can you charge on either side with the truck NOT running?
Liquid (tank upside down) on the high side and gas (tank right side up) on the low side?

After reseaching about when and how much oil to add to my ac system I still have not found if I need to add oil to the system while charging.
I replaced the compressor on my truck with a used compressor off of another truck.
Do I need to add any oil to the system or does the existing oil in the used compressor suffice?

    Well,
I just finished charging the AC system.
This particular job has been weighing on my mind. I was very apprehensive about doing it as working with refrigerants and pressurized systems is not something I have experience with.
I especially was on edge as I was charging the system with the truck running I could not hear the compressor kicking in and out.
Turns out the engaging conpressor is pretty silent in my case. I could hear the truck idleing down and back up when the compressor kicked in and out. I could also visually see the clutch engaging and disengaging.
I have to say that I would not would have wanted to do this without a scale.
I followed BammaToy1997's directions to a point. The system stopped accepting refrigerant at some point so I started the truck to circulate refrigerant and encourage more to come in. That worked.
The pressures on the high side and low side look good. I've attached some pictures of the setup and gauges at the extreme point of each cycle once I was done charging.
The truck now blows ice cold air!
I think this deserves a :broccoli:

I will add that I added a little bit of PAG 46 as I figured there was some oil left in the compressor and whatever other part of the system you add oil to, I can't recall.

    Got the temporary tires on.
    Got the shocks on.
A side shot shows that @TheSaint was correct that since adding the dakar leafs the rear would be higher than the front and visibly noticable.
Mind you the bed is not on so that could lower the rear a bit.

Hey, @Roll Tide , we never heard if this fixed your issue. The suspense is killing us.

I want to be wrong, I really do. But on my truck I have 880 springs up front and Dakars out back, and even with a 200lb shell living permanently on it I still have about 1 inch of rake. With stock springs up front and no weight in the bed, I think you're going to have a ton of rake. If you do, and it bugs you, you can just pull a leaf from the Dakars.
