I bought the stainless steel version, had it installed yesterday. Looks great. Here is a link for a discount for up to three people:

    a couple questions.
    1. did you install yourself and if so did you have a lift and how hard was it?
    2. which specific one did you get (aluminum vs stainless steel)
    3. will the shield interfere with you doing normal maintenance on car?

    1. If you have basic hand tools and can hold up 5lbs with one hand it's very easy to do. Don't even need to lift the truck off the ground to install it, takes about 10 minutes to do.
    2. I have the aluminum one.
    3. You will have to drop it to work on the transmission but other than that it doesn't block anything.

how long does it take to drop? thinking more in line of how much protection do I get as opposed to how much of a hassle it is when I rarely service my transmission. someone just had one stolen down the street so looking to do as much as I possibly can (including painting them which way or may not be worthwhile but at least cheap).

With the 5 point security screw bit it takes 5 minutes to drop the shield, 11 bolts to remove. But if you don't have the bit you have to cut the shield to remove it.
Nothing will stop a sawzall and grinder but the point is to make the time and effort not worth it to the thieves.

miller claims a sawzall cannot penetrate their stainless steel version but where there is a will there is a way.

The problem is if you get a determined thief they can cut the frame cross members that the shield bolts to.
When I bought my shield I figured I'd rather deter the thieves that are looking for quick targets and if I did have a determined thief the shield would be easy enough to destroy without damaging any frame components.

Besides having airbags to lower your truck flat on the ground nothing can truly protect your cats.

I use a floor jack with a rag over the bowl to hold the shield in place during install and removal for transmission work.

Any thoughts on how these compare to the Cali Raised models?

I've seen several Tacomas with the Cali Raised, in person. They all rattled. Not sure if they have updated their design, but they rattle because the cat hits their shield. It's annoying. Miller doesn't seem to have any complaints of rattling.

The new version does not rattle or touch the cat. CaliRaisedLed has been very good at sending the newest version out to those with the old version that rattle.

Chloe Kuo speaks highly of them too, seems like a quality cat shield.

For the people saying they can be cut through. Yes, you're probably right, but this is also a deterrent. The idea is the thief will see it and move on to an easier target.

Exactly. It’s kind of like locking your doors and not leaving things in sight.

By the way it’s now a felony in Texas to steal or be in possession of a stolen catalytic converter.

Stainless steel MillerCat here. I installed it April 2022. So far no rattles or noise of any kind, transmission temps are normal when when towing my TT (ScanGauge), and it was an easy install.

Oh, and I still have the catalytic converter.

    Definitely recommend.

I just got the heavier (12 ga) stainless shield from Miller. May install it this weekend. Only bummer is I think I will need to drop it to grease the 2 zerk fittings on the forward drive shaft every ~5,000 mi.
