New to the forum. Live in the Peoples Communist Republic of CA. Got my catalytic converter boosted. Do the millercats enable the smog people to see the cat # to pass smog?

My aluminum Miller shield clangs metal to metal when driving over over bumpy roads. Have tried slightly bending sides, but no luck getting rid of the noise.

Can you figure out where it is touching? Any rub marks? I was concerned that mine would make noise too after observing how much it flexed upon install, but I haven’t observed any noise from it yet.

This was my 2nd add-on, after the bedmat, on my ‘22 TRD Off Road LB. I bought the steel for what I perceive to be the extra security. I have to park my truck outside as my garage is not deep enough to hold it. Easy install, even for this 67 year old guy with multiple spine surgeries. Used a small bottle jack from HF to hold the shield in place while I buttoned it up. The front bolts were not all that difficult. Took about 50-60 minutes total. Later I thought that the steel may hold up better should I bang the up the bottom on a rock.

Can you access the oil drain plug? or do have to remove it to change the oil?

Given this is a discussion on a shield to help prevent catalytic converter theft, I don't understand your question; can you please rephrase?

do Miller or Talon or any of these companies warrant or guarantee against theft? For example, a thief saws through the vent and steals the cat is there a guarantee they will replace, to include the cats themselves, at no cost to the customer?

if this was a legitimate product they would have a guarantee as such. Otherwise this is solely a cosmetic, feel good mod nothing of any substance.

Hmmm.. lets see, can you change the oil with the cat shield installed? Or must it be removed to get to drain plug?

Hmmm, I still don't understand the question; have you looked under your truck to see where the cat is located?

With enough time, patience, skill, and tools, anything can be stolen. The purpose of using a cat shield is to make your catalytic converter harder to steal so the would-be thief moves on to other vehicles not so "hardened".

I bought the millercat aluminum one and now wished I had gotten the stainless version. From what I read, it's a little heavier duty and less flexy.

Yes you can access the oil drain plug without removing the shield, as it’s much further up the vehicle. However, you do need to remove it to access the transmission drain plug if that matters to you.

    it’s no biggie though

Stainless steel owners…. Does it make noise over rougher roads? Someone mentioned here the aluminum one makes noise.

Worked at a scrap yard one summer in high school…

Logging chain and a ‘tug’ and the whole exhaust pretty much just rips right out the back. Takes about 0:02.

    Tweakers will find a way…

I have the Miller aluminum one and it doesn't make a sound regardless of how rough the road is.

I’ve had the Miller Cat aluminum shield for over a year and have had no issues.

I also have the Miller Cat aluminum shield and no rattle or noise
I liked it and that it doesn't use the same holes as the skidplates.
