Millers vs Talons catshield? What are you guys going with are either more comparable with front skid? If there’s a thread on this already I missed it. Thanks for any insight and pictures. I know talons on here and he’s in Texas, so thats a plus. However I like the steel option from milllers. Maybe talons aluminum thickness is greater than that of the millers making it stronger?

I think I read somewhere those were very thin? I may be completely wrong though.

They are the best dual purpose option on the market. It’s an actual skid plate made of aluminum or steel and the side wings are aluminum that protect the cats. By far the heaviest duty option that provides you with real off road protection and makes it difficult to get to the cats.

Thank you, I’ll look into them a bit more. Of course my insurance will cover it but I’m tired of going to bed every night wondering if I’ll wake up to no cats.

Can’t go wrong with either as a theft deterrent. Only bad decision is not getting one

I did the Talon CAT plate...without the winglet cut-outs.

EDIT: You don't need the security bolts.

Talon with stainless hardware (not from Talon), easy install, thick aluminum is slow to cut with a friction wheel, but not so heavy to damage performance (if the scale goes that low!).070A675E-D968-47B2-BC89-6F3B6BD87747.jpg

These are what I used, I bought two of the security bits so one can stay in the truck, and one in my tool box. I also used a little anti-seize since there are 3 different materials in contact.D72F005C-2EF9-4209-A202-B695C5077CB4.jpg These are the security button head style bolts.

I was debating between the two also. I ended ordering the RCI trans skid plate with their cat guard from Truck Brigade on here.

Good info - thanks for posting. Is this all of the hardware needed for the install? Anything you would change?

Talon for me. Very satisfied. Can be a skid plate also with its thick 1/4 inch aluminum. Blends well with the trd pro plate
