Well apparently I did read it and had forgotten. Getting old sucks. I recognized it immediately and even 'liked it back when it was posted. So I suck. Pants on head retarded suck.

I re-read it. Yes it appears that the OP has a problem. He will need to return his truck to stock condition. The metal aftermarket bumper is a problem.

I wonder if he could just take the bumper off and have the system calibrated?

No and that was never my point. However after re-reading the calibration procedures I find that I have no point( damn that hard to type).

Good luck with that. I posted a PDF in another thread that has folks whining because they don't want to read it. It's significantly fewer pages than the owners manual.

Besides that there are plenty of warnings about blocking the view of the camera and sensor. Obviously a plow would do so. I believe the page #'s are 228 and 335.

Also there is no mention anywhere in the owners manual about permissable weight limits for such an attachment as a plow. If it's not mentioned it's usually because it's not allowed.

Why couldn’t Toyota just put the sensor where Subaru put it, on top by the rear view mirror :notsure:

Let’s be rear, the damn sensor barely works as it is from what I’ve been reading with Toyota, so pull the shit out and drive safe :lalala:

I wish there was a way to "remove the bulb" out of the cluster or so to speak. Its cool that TSS-P can be set to default off when truck is started, but messages and light permanently on get annoying.

Would be cool if toyota could "reprogram" the truck to act like TSS doesnt exist. I am eyeing a 2020+ for down the road but would go insane with TSS errors or repairs by a dealer. Toyota should catermore to the offroading community. This system and its associated "issues" are not very friendly toward the people who like to modify their rides.

i just came back from my visit to the dealership for my 6 month service and for this recall. here's how it went:

after parking my car in the pass and walking in to speak with an associate, he confirmed that my vehicle had a recall on it, so he went outside and visually inspected the front-end and opened up the hood to take a glimpse into it. we went back inside and he asked if i had any aftermarket parts on it, which i confirmed that i had the faux pro grille and that's it. he then asked if i had a lift or larger tires on it, which i denied because i do not. he said that they will take care of it, so i waited around for a few hours. towards the end, he approached me and stated that they couldn't perform the recall due to my aftermarket grille, per his technician. i wasn't offered any waiver or anything to sign, and he stated that they didn't mess with my sensor, grille, or PCS in any way. i asked him what my options were going forward, and one of them was to put my OEM stock sport grille back on to get the recall taken care of, but that would mean it would have that foam pad installed on the top, and if i wanted to re-install the faux pro grille, i'd have to mess with it.

he didn't really make a big deal about the recall..made it seem like there weren't that many cases of tacomas abruptly braking out of nowhere...my adaptive CC and PCS function completely fine.

on a side-note, it was very enjoyable as i was leaving because a technician just got fired and he was causing an embarrassing and cringy scene. bumping his music extra loud in his extremely lowered lexus GS, peeling out all over the parking lot, peeling out into the street and almost striking a few parked cars.
