If it weren’t for the footings I’d say the SDS was overkill.
But concrete can be really hard and tough. The problem is the SDS probably is not going to be as user friendly for small jobs. Like the the brick job.

I guess what I’m saying is, Buy both

I use a HF portaband for cutting square tube and I like it a lot. Much quieter, safer, and no sparks

All my tools are tyobi or porter cable. Trying to keep tooks with same batteries. But everyone tells me milwaukee tools are great. Are they worth changing over to as i have to replace my old tools?

Seriously, this is the right answer. Using the SDS for 5/32 holes will be a misery (If you can even get an SDS bit that small), and using the M12 Hammer for the footings won't work well either. In the long run, you will appreciate the investment of both. Personally, I have M12, M18 and SDS because I prefer to have the best tool for the job as opposed to beating up either myself or the tool.

They do make a 5/32 SDS bit. I used one the other day! :rofl:The SDS bit kit I bought with my SDS did not come with the 5/32, for $3.97 I added it to my collection. The compact SDS' work great, use it like a regular corded drill, just a little heavier.

Same. :rofl:Yes, corded one at work cuts square all the time, and I beams...

    Same.

In all honesty, the M12 subcompact would probably be the size I would actually need for home projects, when I can just use the one at work.

For now, I'm just going to use my corded drill (Dewalt) with a masonry bit. The holes only need to be 1.5" deep. Still brain humping hammer drill vs SDS vs M12 vs M18. Thanks for all the input.
