a. i don't know that i would. makita is plenty fine as a brand.

b. i'd replace each tool as it fails with the M12/M18 equivalent. which is really irritating to run 2 brands...

c. get new credit cards, bite the bullet, tell little timmy he's on his own for his college now because of inflation and the electrical bill being out of control because he won't shut off his room light when you tell him to, and replace everything all at once.

Does anyone here have the m12 circular saw? How's it handle 1x and 2x cuts, how often do you have to change the battery(assuming most would us xc4.0 at least).
What I'm really hoping is that if enough people are happy with the m12 circular saw, milwaukee could make a mini m12 miter saw, possibly sliding, but using only one battery, it would be awesome not to have to haul out my corded 10 inch for a couple quick 2x4 or trim cuts. Yes I know there's a m18 7-1/4 miter saw but thats still bigger then what I would be interested in.

 

Got a m18 hatchet. It’s got some power considering it’s one hand ability

 

A coworker knew I had been wanting one of these. Showed up to work yesterday and told me I can have his because he only has used it once in over a year. Sweet!

I had considered one but instead I went with the rear handle m18… of which I still haven’t used.

 

I've got the m18 fuel not rear handle and its really nice, but it does bog down when ripping 2x12, I still use the old corded skil saw for heavy repetitive cuts.

 

I don't do much wood work at all but the times I've used my M12 circular I've loved it. It's so compact and easy to manipulate.

Have cut 2x4 as well as some 1" hardwood recently.

Helps I run a diablo saw maybe?

I see no need for the M18 variant (even though I have way more M18 batteries) unless I was cutting wood every week which I don't.

 

Diablo blades are the best. If I didnt have the m18 circular saw and was buying today I would get the m12 since its so much smaller and lighter, unfortunately it wasn't out when I needed the cordless circular saw.

 

Yeah I've only had mine about a year and a half (May '22). I don't cut much like I mentioned, and I only use XC 3.0 as I'm not heavily invested in M12. Think my biggest reason for getting it was how cheap it was, like $135.

 

Looking at HD, they've got their metal cutting M18 saw and 3/8" drive M18 small impact paired together for $249 -

Yes, I have the M12 Fuel 5 3/8" circular saw. I generally don't use it to cut 2x material. Maybe in a pinch. It's kind of my specialty saw for awkward positions, up on a ladder, etc. And for cutting 1x material or ripping pre-finished pieces like cabinet side panels, etc. I'm not running it all the time, so don't have any input on battery life with heavy use. I run the XC 6.0.

I use the M18 Fuel 6 1/2" for cutting 2X stock, decking , etc. Works like a champ. I'm running the 5.0 on that.

It works better then the original bar. This wasn't something I planed to do but kind of just happened. I was cutting a few branches that are about 6-8'' in diameter and the original bar and chain was struggling due to the chain being dulled up. It was draining my battery's and I was running out of day light. Took it back to my garage to re sharpen the chain when I got a bright idea to swap out my 10'' bar with a new chain to the hatchet. It all fit and ran with no problem. Even ended up cutting some logs at 10-12''. Now that I've tried this mod I don't think I want to go back to the smaller bar. might end up buying a second bar to replace my pole saw.

 

Jumped to team Green with this Metabo HTP 8 1/2" Sliding Miter Saw & stand. Still have my M18 7 1/4" & 12".
