I'd do a Fuel 3/8" mid torque 18v to keep in the truck. I keep a 1/4 Gen 2 Fuel with me, and while it mostly works, I'd want something stronger for field fixes. Bigger battery gets you bigger power too. Tempting to keep something small in there, but I learned from experience to keep a big one on me. And a charger...I have a bunch.

 

I have the rear handle m18 saw. I would not buy it again. I would try the top handle or the M18 hatchet before I would recommend the rear handle saw to anyone.

I modified my rear handle to have a more appropriate bar and chain and I’m still not entirely satisfied with it for what I spent. I think the top handle makes the most sense for what it is. I did a write up about two years ago in this thread.

 

not that I've noticed. I have a m12 hatchet that I kept in the truck abut the top handle basically replaced it. I would recommend to watch a few videos on proper chain saw techniques as that's what might be causing the kick back. always under cut to relive pressure etc...
I still have a few gas chain saws but I mostly use the m18 on in my back yard. its nice and quiet, small so easy to handle. surprisingly it gets most of the logs/trees cut no problem.

Those supposed “breaker” bars are breakable. I use a slider for tough stuff my impact can’t get off

Throw a cheater bar or pipe on the end of that and hang a tractor on it and it’ll bend not break. Those breaker bars will sever the pin holding the end before using much force

We were discussing cutoff wheels about a week ago and the wheels I was recommending I wasn’t sure if they were still available. Well I ran by Airgas today and I had to ask for them they were in the back. But they are still available.
These if they are still made to the same standards are a good cutoff wheel!

 

I pulled the trigger on this as I have found myself needing a jigsaw multiple times recently. Ended up using a buddy’s, who has the same model, so I haven’t opened it yet. Up in the air about keeping it.

 

Just keep it, you never know.

I bought a circular saw cause I needed it once for some 2x4's and I'll be glad I own it if the need arises again.

I'm a metal worker btw.

 

I bought these battery mounts. I attached open side down since the batteries latch in, just like in a tool. It seems to be a good idea to keep them out of the way. It does look like I need to buy ONE MORE BATTERY.

Adding to the inventory. The 8.0 and charger were free with the purchase of the Vac and the 12.0 (which was $199...normally $249.). 12.0 is for the Vac. 8.0 will be used for the top handle chain saw. Wanted the new M12 Jig Saw, but not even available at my local HD, so I grabbed the M18 Barrel Jig Saw. Have plenty of extra 3.0's laying around for that.

Need to track down some vacuum bags.

 

I use it without bags. I like it.

 

I always use bags. I'm usually working in homes and the added filtration is important. Can keep a filter like new for years. Simplifies disposal too.

 

Oh, yours is the big one.
Ours is smaller.

 

I also have the small M12 Fuel vacuum for really small cleanups, my trucks, hard to reach areas, etc. I run a bag in that too.

Use them in my corded Rigid's as well.

Try that link I posted below the graphic. Just ordered today, it worked. You have to add the 12 Ah as the 'main tool' and a 5 Ah is the 'free tool. Looks like below, then when added to cart it rings up as $199 total cost whereas in the graphic before adding to cart it says $159. After added to cart, the 12 Ah is cheap as shown above. I plan to return the 5 Ah and just keep the 12 Ah for $110.

Somewhat wonky with the price changing, so not sure what is up with the site but I rolled with it. This is an old link from my cart doing this, stoked they are trying to help me out today.
