I miss my mom's '04 Honda Odyssey EX!

Parents bought brand new in May 2004, and we had her for 9 years and over 130K trouble-free miles!

It had a 240hp V6 and was incredibly fast and fun to drive, yet my dad observed close to 30 MPG on the highway.

I only had my driver's license for the last two years we had the Odyssey, but sometimes I regret not asking to have that minivan instead of taking an RC Tacoma! No, really!

It had ICE COLD A/C that would numb fingers and harden nipples, it had room for 6 people not including the driver, and it had a surprisingly good factory sound system!

Actually, until I put a Pioneer component system in my Taco in April 2013, the stereo in Odyssey was better than the one in my truck! The CD player worked in a strictly part-time basis for the last few years we owned the Odyssey, but this did not bother me because it had a tape deck that I played my iPod through with a car kit adapter...

My dad bought a brand new Pilot in May 2013 and sold the Odyssey to his boss for $3,500. My dad's boss still has it, and it's got at least 150K on the clock now but shows no signs of dying!

Sucks you couldn't get the Previa with the supercharged engine, all-wheel drive, and a manual transmission! However, the Previa was actually available as a stick shift until 1993 or 1994. One could probably build themselves a stick shift AWD Previa in a few days to a week, depending on their level of expertise...

I know a guy who took his mom's 1989 or 1990 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4, which of course had the venerable 350 and the infamous 700R4 automatic. In about a weekend, he dropped a 6.5L Detroit Diesel Turbo and NV4500 5-speed from a newer truck into this Suburban...

I've never been a fan of the 6.5L, but it's pretty epic that the guy took a retired grocery-getter that had been sitting for years, and converted it into a street legal off-road toy that's completely exempt from emissions testing!

If I ever win the lottery, I'll pay my dad's boss $3,500 to have it back!

At first I thought that was an Aerostar, but it looks like a European model of some sort...

My friend inherited a '97 or '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager from his dad when he died. It was this purplish blue color, and it had some minor front end damage from hitting a deer that my friend chose not to get fixed, but that minivan was perfect in every other respect. It was fully loaded. It had the factory Infinity sound system with AM/FM cassette and CD, and that system absolutely cranked!

It also had one of the coldest air-conditioning systems I've ever experienced! It had dual A/C and heat too! On a 102 degree day during a heat wave in July 2010, it was like sitting in a freezer!

Unfortunately in late 2010-early 2011, my friend passed out behind the wheel due to a medical condition, hit a Honda Civic head on, and totaled both vehicles in the process. That minivan probably saved his life though. At the speed he was going, he only ended up with a fractured jaw and burns from the airbag.

Now, his medical condition is managed and he's driving a 2013 Volvo XC60...

I'd totally take that Voyager over the Volvo any day!
