    No issues with mine... yet...

I wonder if the sun is catching the part of the metal riser that isn't blocked by the black paint on the windshield and subsequently conducting the heat to the attachment point and then causing it to break when temperature changes???
If so you could just put a sticker on the outside of your windshield that covers it.
Also wonder about glueing the entire riser to the windshield?

I’m definitely not putting the riser back on the truck. Not worth the price of the new windshield. I’m also trying to contact BirdDawg industries to no avail. Extremely shady.

    Same crap everyone else got
I have an immryo 2nd gen rear mirror riser bracket sitting around waiting to be put on. Do these mount the same way and should I be concerned with this issue also?
They aren't made anymore and in the immryo thread, the birddawg one is now recommended as an alternative.

Edit: just realized the OP has posted in the thread I was looking at warning others of the birddawg bracket.

    How the immryo bracket mounts:

I haven’t heard anyone having issues with the immryo bracket, as opposed to the Birddawg one

If you consider that the windshield is glass, plastic, glass, the actual glass that the mirror foot is glued to is VERY thin. Probably somewhere between 1/16" and 1/8".

Why don't you guys just glue the mirror mounting foot on higher up on the windshield?

I have no idea how to remove it or to glue it again, so I went for the easier option. Unfortunately it cost me

Prying off an existing 1 is risky. Just glue on another 1 higher up. If your new windshield comes without the mounting foot, tell the installer where you want it glued on.

going on 6 years here. No issues with immryo design. I'd install it sooner than later, you don't know how much your visibility is impaired by the stock placement of the mirror.

I talked to the installer and the glass comes with the mount already glued on. I might just glue the old one on top of the newer one.

Happens a lot with the risers.Factory setup and you would not be having this problem.

As a long time truck driver, I use the side mirrors. My truck has a shell so the rear view mirror is useless. I removed it and can see a lot more.

I ended up having the glass shop glue a new mount for my rearview mirror, so that was nice.
Any ideas what to mount on the stock one?

Suggest leave well-enough alone. Don't temp or take the risk of windshield breakage.
I've had the IMMRYO 2nd Gen Rear View Mirror Riser Bracket on my Tacoma for over seven years without any issues.
However, it is nice to be able to see what is near your right front quarter.

I'm not familiar with the riser, but it's great that the newer mirror button adhesives are strong enough to break the glass. 25 years ago I worked in automotive glass and we had lots of issues with getting the buttons to even stick to the glass; we would've killed to be able the break glass before the bond failed!
If you're going to use a riser like that, you need some additional adhesive at the end of it- that's creating a huge moment arm on the button.

Edit: standard windshield is 2.0mm glass, 0.7mm vinyl, 2.0mm glass. Sometimes 2.3mm is used on the outside pane as it's actually cheaper than 2.0mm since the scrap rate is lower in the raw glass production

Mine didn’t break the glass, but my mirror slides off of it on bumpy roads.

Took BirdDawg six months to respond to me. Six. Months.

No offer of replacement, no reason why it took six months, nothing.

They said and I quote “we’ve never heard of mirrors or risers falling off”.......
