To whom that have the bird dawg industries mirror riser in their gen 3.. I'm really getting annoyed at looking well below the mirror to see oncoming traffic. How difficult is it to take down the factory mirror? I don't want to break any of the factory plastic components.

    HUH...???

If you are looking below the mirror to see "oncoming traffic", then YOU are heading for the left ditch....OR... you are in the passenger's seat... WTF.. are you trying to say...???

Hahaha.. turning from a different road not on a 2 way. I'm 6ft and sit high in the truck, the bird dawg industries mirror riser moves the mirror up closer to the headliner.

Why don't you just rise up the mirror? You don't need aftermarket parts. That was a 2nd gen problem.

OK.. now I understand... maybe you need to lower the seat..??
Maybe just move the mirror to your personal satisfaction.. that is possible... go to a windshield installer and ask them..

How are they installed? Like with the metal piece glued to the windshield and the mirror attaches to that?

Yes. It has a pivot on the windshield and one on the mirror.

Yea attaches to the metal piece on the windshield. I adjusted mine as much as I could, still in the way a good bit. The bird dawg ind one was for the 2 gen but I've seen others talk about it fitting the 3 gen

Take it to an autoglass installer. They have a tool that fits over the metal piece on the windshield and heats the glue up. If they dont have the tool, they will use a regular heat gun.

They will remove the metal piece and replace it with a new one in any desired position you like.

That's a good option as well. Can't imagine it would be an expensive one either. Thanks!

Tbh....when I worked for a glass company many moons ago....we would install that piece for free because the summers were so hot...alot of them just fell off from the weight of the mirror

The bird dawg fits the 3rd gen. You have to really press it into the headliner to fit it in, but it came out great. I'm 6ft tall as well and had a hard time with the mirror. It cleared up a lot of space with the riser. My only dislike is that the mirror presses against the headliner now and I have to press the headliner up to fold the mirror high enough for me to see. Other then that I love it. So much more to see between my skewp and my mirror.P1010724.jpg

Even at it's lowest setting, it'll still hard contact the headliner?

OP do you dislike your seating position? i sat too high, so had an upholstery shop carve foam out of my seat to drop me and provide more bucket for more comfort. it worked perfect for me, maybe 2 birds with one stone for you? I sit maybe 1-1.5 inches lower now.

How does taking foam out of the seat affect the comfort?

well, that's exactly why i did it. it was too high and flat before, so uncomfortable that i couldn't drive more than 90 minutes before my right leg went numb. after this treatment it's about the most comfortable chair i own now. drive for hours with zero complaints.

    sorry for any threadjack.

I like the height I sit at, I'm fairly comfortable driving with the seat as is. Only issue is the mirror height. And I checked the other pivot point on the mirror, was already maxed out to the highest it can go.

    none yet!

Hi there! Did you tell them how much to remove of the foam at the bottom of the seat? Did you remove it evenly from front to back?

    Thanks so much!
