Has anyone been in touch with Bird Dawg industries lately? I emailed them a couple months ago and didn't hear anything back.

I’m 6’4” and I too have to ‘hunker down’ to get a really good view of all the cross traffic. I have the mirror maxed out on both joints. I’ve heard some have even just ‘flipped’ the mirror to get a bit more height.

Recently I did a false start pulling out into a major road and it spooked the guy planning on turning left in front of me and he bailed on the turn. He wasn’t happy. I deduced that from is gestures. :)

It reminded me that it is a bit dangerous. I know the responsibility is all mine, but the setup isn’t optimal.

On the balance of things, I think the taco is a better fit for me (no pun intended) than a full size. I’ve learned to accommodate, but every now and there’s the reminder to be careful.

I have the same problem on my taco, but not on my Honda Fit. It's not a vehicle size issue. It's a seating position issue.

The BirdDawgIndustries riser works perfectly on my 2017. It sounds like it will fit newer Tacos with a small mod to lop off the Ram mount lobes.

I’m emailing them as well and no answer. They are very quick to take your money tho.

I recently did a 350 mile trip and had 5 straight hours both ways to be annoyed by the mirror position. I went and ordered a riser. I’ll report back. FWIW, the website indicates ‘last run’ on this particular product.

Disappointment. The product is fine, it’s just that with the way the 3rd Gen mirror and roof combo are put together, it really doesn’t provide much help. I already have my mirror maxed out with both joints fully articulated. Adding the riser moves the mirror farther away from the glass, but it also starts to impinge on the roof liner, which limits how high it can go. Perhaps it’s my 6’4” frame and how high I sit that makes it less valuable for me.

In the end, for a 3rd Gen I just didn’t think the juice was worth the squeeze. I’m guessing I’ll put it up in the marketplace soon.

It seems others have had success, so ymmv.

Sorry to here that. If the mirror can touch the roof liner, then mission accomplished? You are right that it is more aftward. In the end, it opened up a lot of view that was blocked on the windshield for me.

For windshield replacements, I swapped it out and just couldn't wait to get it back in there (along with the cracked windshield going away}.

For me, I think the movement vector wasn’t very oblique to my line of sight, so the gains were pretty minimal.

Maybe I should pull the truck out and put it in the driveway where I can have a better view for reference and go through the exercise again.

Definitely try it on a drive or few. The amount of rearward movement was noticeable when I installed it but was quickly forgotten.

im 6'5" and i modified mine to work. i posted the video on here to hopefully help, it dosent look pretty when on the bench but once you but it back in place you can not see any of it from inside or out. i have had 1 of all the modern full size trucks as well and had the same issues with all of them but they have more radars behind the mirror making it impossible to move. i have seen people flip the mirror over as well but mine had the compass in it and i do no not want to be looking at it upside down. hope this helps dont give up yet i promise at your height you will have the same problem in all vehicles the only thing that will change is a much higher price tag and interest rate right now
