I noticed that the rear bumper on my brand new 2021 OR is crooked. No marks on the paint to indicate any type of contact. The measurement on the drivers side is 7/8" from the rear quarter panel indent to accept the bumper, to the bumper cover, and the right side it measures 1/4". Anybody else notice this on their truck? I am going to take it apart this weekend to investigate, but figured I'd ask the collective first.

Why are you touching a brand new truck?

Make a appointment and bring it in or wait for your first service.

    Leave it alone..

    Not unusual

Not letting a dumbass dealership TOUCH MY TRUCK. Been there with previous vehicles. I'll figure it out. Just wanted to know if this is common. Looks like it might be.
I guess I'll loosen everything up and see if I can get it lined up as it should be.

You do realize that by you not bringing it in and having a repair done you
Are not helping fix a poss. assembly problem. They look at repairs like this and if
It is noted enough times with a case study they investigate at the source.
So in reality you maybe causing more people to have this issue in the future..

I get your point, but I think if Toyota was really concerned about minor build issues or any other possible major issue, they would monitor major Tacoma owners sites like this one to cure known issues that have plagued trucks for longer than necessary. I have the capability to fix most issues myself in a more timely manner without the dealership bullshit. I still love my truck so far and will fix what is necessary to make it as perfect as can be.

It is not too difficult to loosen off the bolts, realigning, and retightening. I used a floor jack to keep it steady once I had it aligned, then tightened everything down and it was good to go.

Seems like this has been an issue going back to 2016 at least. My 2019 bumper is fine. Guess the guy in San Antonio wasn't too hung over when they put my bumper on....

Surprisingly my rear bumper is perfect on both sides. Truck made in Texas, if that makes any difference.

    Work in progress...
My bed was crocked, I loosened the six bolts and aligned it. The rear bumper was crocked and I never go around to aligning it. I went with a after market rear bumper.

The rear bumper pad just pulls offf but, you may break several of its clips.

The 2020 I had was a Texas build and the rear bumper caps were noticeably uneven. Much larger gap on one side. I never did try to adjust it.

The 2021 I have now is Baja Cali built and the gaps are much better. Maybe not perfect, but they match much better than the other truck did. I was happy when I noticed how much better this one looks.

To the OP, I remember reading somewhere how to adjust the gap. I'm sure you could figure it out if that gap bothers you.
