Some are all about "who cares" and ya being in the automotive industry myself most of my life (with some time in manufacturing and construction) pride in work is grossly lacking. But its not all the workers fault. It's those in charge. It's about numbers getting out to make more money. They worry more about the extra profit over attention to detail. So speed matters more, no matter how much the worker has pride in their work.

But for 1 worker who has pride and wants to do a perfect job, there are 100 that don't give a flying F, just get that paycheck and kiss the bosses asses.

A lot of "made in America is better quality", ya no its not. Not if it comes out of a full factory.

All that said, this is the first time I have bought a brand new vehicle, bought toyota because it's quality and reliability is far beyond American branded vehicles. But almost 40k and my bumper is that far off is rather annoying. And fixing it means taking my personal time after spending 40-50hrs fixing other people's cars, to fix my BRAND NEW truck.

After reading this thread I decided I am not going to look at mine too closely.

To add another angle to this. If a bed or bumper mis-alignment is considered cosmetic and should be somewhat looked over or accepted. What would a paint blemish or orange peel under the clear coat be considered? After all, it is cosmetic. Should that be considered within factory specs?:notsure:

    * And yes, all of this could have been noticed on the Dealers lot and the buyer could have went and looked at another truck that may or may not have had the same issues.

We all seem to love this truck and it just sucks to see the builders of it not give a wet slimy turd about putting it together correctly. I guess it's just a sign of the times and we all need to get used to accepting sub standard work/quality in pretty much everything we buy. Some of us are pretty handy and can fix most issues without too much effort, but it will always piss me off that I have to.

Yeah, probably comes down to management and normalization of deviance to some extent. It’s not that they couldn’t have tighter QC, but not prioritizing it over production speed/profit. I think they tend to fall back to typical reputation for trouble free and long lived (unless frame rusts in half) trucks and don’t invest as much into development and QC as they could or maybe should. I’m sure the associated costs if they did would be paid by the consumer in even higher prices.
