Looking for some help. I have a 2012 4cylinder with 160,000 miles. Started to start rough and threw a code for cylinder 2 misfire. I disconnected the battery and replaced spark plugs and ignition coils. Ran great for about 2 weeks, then started rough again. No problems when up to speed, just a sluggish start. CEL came on yesterday and code was misfire cylinder 2 again. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry I can’t help on your problem but a more descriptive title to the thread might get more views and thus better response. Help is reserved for those stuck on the side of the road needing immediate assistance. Good luck on your problem and welcome.

A misfire that only occurs on a cold start kind of suggests a headgasket that is seeping coolant into a cylinder.

I'd want to look in the misfiring cylinder with a borescope with the cooling system pressurized for coolant seeping in.

Could it be a clogged fuel injector in cylinder 2?

It would misfire all the time.

Cold start misfire is usually a tiny coolant leak due to headgasket.

If the fuel injector was clogged it would be running crappy all the time, like trying to accelerate and go up a hill.

Like mentioned above, a misfire on startup only is indicative of a small HG leak

Okay thanks for the help. My truck is in rough shape, I use it hard. Looking online, a head gasket replacement would cost more than I want to spend. My wife is telling me to just get a new one. This truck has no AC, the drivers window doesn’t go down, and it’s a bit of an eyesore. My kids do not want to drive in it. It smells like “farts and gym clothes” according to them. Could I try some head gasket sealant and just run it until it dies, or is there a better solution?
