So I just changed my spark plugs for the first time since factory on my 2009 Toyota Tacoma V6. I pull the 3 from one side of the engine and they are Denso. I pull the 3 from the other side of the engine and they are NGK. Obviously the factory was not synchronized that day on which plugs they were using. I just wonder if anyone else has ever seen this before.

That's what the factory installs on all the Gen 2 4.0's. You don't need to replace exactly the same if you don't want to. Use NGK on all 6 cylinders and be fine for sure, or use all Denso. I've always used all NGK and had no issues at all and it fires strong. Using other brands besides Denso or NGK can cause ignition issues. Something about the Japanese chips in those working with the Japanese circuitry in our trucks or something. I'm sure someone else can explain better.

Many have seen that before. It’s also common knowledge that if you put the new ones on opposite sides, you gain 15HP and 3-5 MPG on average.

I put NGK in a couple months ago and developed a tick louder than usual. Put in cooper denson after that and the tick went back to the normal annoying sound

Interesting. No tick in mine hardly at all other than what's expected in the 4.0.

That’s as common as the rust issue.

    To explain..

Its a contract toyota has had for a LONG TIME with both NGK and Denso. Circa 95ish (possibly earlier) with the advent of the 3.4L v6 in the 1st gen taco / 3rd gen 4 runners. Its a great way to know if plugs have ever been changed from factory, considering depending on the motor the partnumber directly for toyota for replacement plugs gets you all of one single kind. Densos for the 2nd gen taco v6 (which have been shown to wear better than the ngk equivalents in the 4.0L)

You must talk about rust. One that is informed will have a truck that preforms.

    Huh,,,,,

    Thinking this is a goof.

    Ten years on plugs...

First post and he has an avatar and model year spelled out...

Used “just” twice in the post...

Apologies to @ArtForm if I’m wrong.
