Part of me actually wonders if the heat range is dialed up one range over the other on the drivers side since more heat build up occurs on bank 2. There may be more to it than a contractual thing between NGK and Denso.

Thanks for the replies. Really interesting.

And yes, I know 10 years on factory plugs. I came ready for the frosty chill I would feel from the forum. But my curiosity outweighed my anxiety.

I don't really know what it means that "this is a goof", but my wife calls me that pretty often, so no apologies needed :)

From time to time, people post some dubious stuff here.

Goof, as I used it, was meant to convey my opinion you weren’t serious hence my apology if I was wrong.

    Welcome BTW.

naw both plugs are identical specs. What makes you think the driver side heats up more than passenger? I know both rear cylinders have 1* less of timing across the board due to extra heat, but side to side differences naw.

Just what you said right there. Their idea of cooling down the rearmost cylinders is to pull timing and add extra fuel to cool them down.

If they are identical in heat range and specs and just different brands then it was definitely a contractual exclusive thing.

Just a bunch of old crap
Legit question for sure. One I had back when I did my first plug change years ago. But search is your friend on this forum. Literally so much information to sift through. Welcome!

yeah no side to side differences as far as heat reduction, but front to back yes. The plugs like stated are a contractual thing and allows one to see if plugs are from the factory easily.

Sure, I have factory plugs on my 98 Ranger. Runs great. Years shouldn't mater as much as mileage.
