Looks like the bushings are missing under the bed where it mounts.

Psst...There are no bushings the bed goes straight to the frame. This issue is caused by loose bed bolts and the flex of the frame letting the composite bed literally sand itself off against the frame.

The previous owner did not cut into the bed, the truck did this to itself. The bed is made out of a fiberglass composite material and your frame is steel so if the bed bolts are not super tight the bed is constantly scuffing against the frame and wearing itself away. Check out that link someone else posted to the thread with folks trouble shooting this issue.

@The_Great_PNW this guy^^ is on to something. If you go that route send me your dimensions and I will make them. It will cost you a triple shot latte though.

I agree, I don't think anyone cut into the bed. It looks like whoever owned it before maybe had a heavy bed rack or cap installed and the extra weight caused excessive wear on the underside of your bed. There are a few threads about this issue. I'd take the free bed being offered to you, if I were you.

You think this was due to wear? Serious question.

Yes. It slowly ground through the plastic. Once there was a little bit of wear it was able to move around quite a bit. Spacers will fix it but it will be a pain to do.

Something for those of us who have a drawer system or liner to think about. Need to check those periodically.

Could I just undue the bolts and have someone lift the bed up (I can lift it about half an inch) and slip the bushing into the spot? (Spacer) and then put the screw back in?

Yes. You will probably have to measure each location individually in order get the bed level. I doubt it wore evenly.
