Over the weekend I was changing my oil, and noticed than one of my catalytic converters had a cover and one didn't. I'm assuming this isn't the normal arrangement, but it didn't look like there was any damage around it. So is this normal or have I somehow lost a cover?

(for reference, I have a 2015 TRD Off Road with 3000 miles)

Working on it. Never Ending :)
I think what you are seeing is the heat shield on the drivers side cat and no the passenger side cat does not have one, I am not sure why, but far as I know what you are looking at is normal.

That does seem like an odd design choice by Toyota, but I'm ok with it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a heat shield.

I actually posted a similar thread on this a few weeks back. You are OK.

Even on the 2016, it's the same arrangement.

does anyone know if this is the set up on the 2011? My driver's side was rattling, about to fall off. The passenger side was not there so I assumed it had already rusted and fallen off. I actually ordered one to replace it. I'll really feel like an idiot if it was never there.:anonymous:
