With new OEM short blocks running $15,000, what are my options? --
There I was, last Saturday night, busily installing my exhaust cam gears from the group buy when I noticed the bolt having been already removed from the exhaust cam tensioner on the driver’s side! As I have not been inside that engine since the Stealer replaced the head gasket in '18 they had to have been why the bolt was not replaced. My local Stealer's Tech says the metal worn from the tensioner and cam gear will eventually and inevitably kill the engine. They also reported that the bolt was omitted by error, as replacing it is part of the factory manual that the head-gasket-replacing Stealer should have followed, but did not. Background: I approached my local Stealer via the parts counter with the intent to buy a cam tensioner/bolt and simply replace the damaged parts, not to discover that my engine is now toast. What would you do?
