Ok, so do the new Tacoma's actually come with the brake controller pig Tail harness and the protective caps for the backup camera harness when removing the tailgate?

They where missing from my truck and when I asked about the brake controller harness they tried saying that was what the ect mode was for and the brake control is built in on the 2019. That doesn't sound right to me as it gives no ability to adjust the brake bias on the trailer as conditions warrant. And they have never heard of any protective caps even when I showed them mention in the manual as being in the glove box.

My 2017 came with the tailgate caps. I thought that it was cool to get them, but now I installed the tailgate seals, that will cost a bit of $$ if I ever pull it off.

The connector is there, but I believe that I need to buy the Taco specific harness and a controller.

I got caps for camera harness. No brake controller pigtail. It has a plug for a brake controller under the left side of the dash but I had to buy the controller side.

Pro Tip: The dealer is NOT Toyota. They are a small independent company that sells and services Toyota in a partnership.

Dang it! I am using the non-keyed power pin on that connector for my dual usb port. Looks like I'll need to switch it up if we ever get a TT.

Do you have any pictures/info on this and which wire it is with constant power? Any idea what fuse it comes from and what it's rating is?

I was thinking that using the trailer brake adapter harness they sell I could rig something up that is plug and play for always on 12v and easily removable if needed.

I will get you the pin later, and a better pic.

I have no idea about the fuse, but it looks like the pic above.

The blue wire is my spade / tap.

Nice! I can look through the tech manual to find the pinout. It would be cool if there is a ground wire in there too.

    Thanks!

It has supported full charging of two phones with no problems.

There are a couple chassis grounds. I used the one directly behind the HVAC panel. I think there is one behind the kick panel also?

This diagram is from a 2015 tundra, but probably the same.

That looks like what I used.

    Good stuff.

It is funny though, as it looks like Pins 3, 5, and 9 are flipped? Or, is that the back side of the connection?

I think that diagram is from a Tundra, could possibly be different?

Search under the seats and in the back seat storage spaces My bed rail tie downs were under the drivers seat. The caps were in the glove box, but you never know if they will hide them to prevent stealing. Key for wheel locks was zip tied to the lug wrench.

the point i was making is that Toyota sells car to the independent dealer with the toyota name on the building.....Toyota manufactures the vehicles....the dealer has stickers on cars with items on them and add to that....when manufacturing says items are manufactured into the vehicle, then they should be there....the dealers have no idea of what items are manufactured into the vehicle.....the OP said i believe that there were thing missing....i could be wrong on that point, but his point i believe was things were missing and the independent dealer had no clue..
