I just bought a 2004 SR5 2wd extracab (non-prerunner, low-to-the-ground standard SR5 with 2.4 4 cyl). There are some tabs with holes on the front lower fenders that seem like something should mount there. My previous 1990 Toyota truck had a plastic under-engine protection cover that mounted under the front of the engine. Before that, my 1983 Toyota truck had a metal version of same. Should my 2004 have something similar? There is currently no shield/plate mounted under there. Thanks!

those shields, skid plates are usually just for the 4wd but the holes for them are there on all trucks
