Replaced chrome badges with Sockmonkey black badges, painted billet grill black, K&N cold air intake, my corner light turn signal circuit, Speedfreek traction bars, RAAMaudio BXT/Ensolite, Stereo: Kenwood KIV-701 USB/Bluetooth deck, 10" Pioneer shallow sub behind the rear seat, Infinity 6822cf 6x8 front and rear doors, Fosgate P400-2 (sub), US Acoustics USX-4065 (four main speakers)
It is a good deal. That is where I bought mine back in 2009 (same $299 price). I had a local guy in North San Diego install it (Jason / Speedfreek http://speed-freek.com/ ). He highly recommended getting new carrier bearings (I think Toyota called them tapered bearings). They were about $100 so out the door it was about $700. Some people shy away from the clutch type diff because it can't last forever, but I have had mine over five years. With the LSD and airing down the tires, I have been in places I never thought a 2WD could go.

I had a clutch-type TRD LSD unit in my old 4runner. The clutches wore out after 4 years. So I was 'open' until I had the clutches replaced.

That's a good price & would be tough to beat. If the shop could get the carrier bearings off the differential, you could re-use those. Not that I recommend that, but there's an extra $100 savings if you do.

Really, the only drawbacks for the clutch type differential are that it (generally) requires an additive to the gear oil to function properly & that it will wear out faster than a non-clutch version. As a clutch type LSD wears out it simply becomes an open differential - it doesn't catastrophically fail or anything.

I stand corrected, it may not. My 1999 3RZ does.
