Just bought a used 2006 4DR V6 Prerunner SB 2WD, with off-road and towing (6500 lbs) packages. Love it and plan to tow a 3500 lb trailer. Noticed that the STOP LP CTRL relay in the under-hood fuse block is missing, though it is shown on the cover diagram. Does the off-road and/or towing packages installed on this truck pre-empt the need for this relay? It does not seem to affect brake light operation, including when rear differential lock is engaged. Do I need to worry about this missing relay?

That relay is what ties in the Skid Control ECU.

So if this relay is not there --assuming it is supposed to be there even after installation of Off-road and towing options--What warning signals might appear on the instrument panel?

I know the vehicle does not have Downhill Assist control, no Auto LSD (whatever that is), no front drive control switch. There is no Vehicle Stability Control light that briefly appears ("VSC OFF") when the ignition key is turned to on. It does not turn on either when the rear differential switch is turned on (the rear diff lock symbol does show on the instrument panel). The VSC TRAC warning light has never appeared either--which it is supposed to do-- when there is a problem somewhere in VSC, traction control, AUTO LSD, Hill-start control,or Downhill assist control. Doesn't this suggest that my truck has none of those options? Yhe specs sheet that came with the vehicle when new does not list those options--just rear diff lock

I saw a brief mention by somebody in a different thread that this relay is not installed with certain options or truck types. Would appreciate more info or other thread references.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the 06 doesn't have VSC and that relay isn't in trucks without VSC, so it sounds like it's all normal.
