The fluid warmer and cooler thermostat on the transmission hasn't changed, just the additional air cooler. So I wouldn't expect any fuel economy changes due to this update.

My thought was if the oil is running consistently "hotter" they could fudge the numbers.

Toyota should spray the cooler gold, make it a TRD Pro exclusive part and triple the price. They would get rich!

I haven't looked under the hood of my 2019 SR5, but the sticker lists Engine Oil Cooler, Power Steering Cooler, Towing Hitch Receiver, Trailer Sway Control, and 130 amp alternator. No transmission cooler though.

You should be fine. It looks like this is a change in the 2020 that come with the towing package. It's not all 2020 either, it's just some built after a certain date.

Would adding the transmission cooler your self void your warranty ? Could the cooler be added by dealership with a warranty ?

I'd assume adding the OEM cooler would maintain warranty. I'm trying to convince my dealer to cover install costs since I had explicitly asked about an ATF cooler and they said it would be included in the standard tow package.

If you have a problem with your stereo no... but if you have trans issues, whether the cooler cause them or not, you have a chance of them blaming the cooler. I'd say using all factory parts you have a better chance because they may not even notice you added it but its a risk either way.

True enough, but a 2 minute chat with the dealer would be worth it.

Yes, was just letting him know that the missing cooler was only applicable to some of the 2020's with the tow package.

If you want to know about warranty the last person to ask is the dealer.

Email Toyota. They’ll respond in writing. They’re the warranty owner.

Dealership is a contracted service provider only.

Those aren’t through Toyota, sold through a dealership (privately owned and independent unless contracted seller for brands X Y or Z) and underwritten by third party warranty companies.

    I understand that.
I should have expounded on that.
What would adding an aftermarket cooler do to my extended warranty purchased through Toyota ? As you mentioned above, I should contact the holder of the warranty I suppose since it is no longer corporate.

Toyota USA also offers their own extended warranty through Toyota Financial Services (Toyota Motor Insurance Services, Inc.), as does Toyota Canada through their Extended Care Plan (ECP). Not all extended warranties are third party.

You will also find that most are not as good as Toyota's either.

Are there any updates on the missing the auxiliary transmission fluid coolers? I have a 2020 DC Sport Premium on the way to the dealership which I ordered on May 22, 2020. Paid a deposit but haven't signed off yet. If the truck arrives missing the cooler, what's the most persuasive approach with the dealer? When did they discontinue the cooler at the factory (San Antonio?)? I looked on the lot and see other 2020's with the cooler mounted. Wondering if the dealer would swap-out one of those and install it in mine? Suggestions?

All 2020 Tacomas made at all plants from March 2020 onwards no longer have the auxiliary cooler.
