Thanks! It took about 4 hours to install, the longest part was figuring out where to put it.
I took my time and didn't want to screw anything up, transmissions are expensive! Lol.

I feel we are missing the point here.
Yes Toyota has every right to delete and or add items as they see fit, BUT they should have made the changes clear to the customer.
I do not feel a customer should have to crawl into, under, over the truck just to see what might have been deleted from a brochure that shows it should be included. Had I known I could have negotiated with the dealer to discount me the cost of adding one, or have them add it.
Now here is the kicker. I contacted Toyota Customer Service, and was told that they do not recommend adding a third party transmission cooler, and that any damage caused by installing one will not be covered by any Toyota warranty - Word to the wise, should you have ANY cooling system issue while under warranty, pull off the after market cooler you installed, prior to taking it in for warranty service.

Wow, yeah I wasn’t aware of this and assumed when I purchased my 2020 OR that it would have the aux cooler, not a fan of this not being included.

    I know...
I purchased my truck intending to tow with it, and I am well aware of the effect high temperatures have on a transmissions life.
I expect this kind of deceitful customer service from GM, I thought Toyota was better than this.

I’m in the same boat, I plan to tow with it.. must be fixed.

guess I’ll find all the part number for the factory unit and order them in. Extra expense I wasn’t expecting :(

Would you be able to show where you hooked up the new lines to the truck? Even if it's just through the grille?

Aside from hitch and trans cooler, what's included in tow package?

It says a off road has the cooler according to their website.
    This is a 2020 build.

Order aftermarket. Way better and bigger capacity. Likely cheaper as well

I just tapped into the cool return line coming out of the radiator, routed to the B&M cooler and then back to the transmission.

My wife was looking at upgrading her Subaru to a 4 runner. But after this Mid production missing trans cooler debacle and now the OR’s seem to have their own mid year delete with the crawl not working on an incline...She has decided to purchase another Subaru. I am debating weather to eat the cost of adding an aftermarket cooler, or just selling it before the warranty expires...

Floor mats, junk in center console
A trailer wiring harness with flat-four and seven-pin connectors on the rear bumper.

I know on Gen 1 Taco’s the ones with a factory towing package also used a different water pump as well (one had a green dot the other orange or something). I’m not sure if that’s still the case on the 3rd Gens.

I have a Toyota with the tow package on reserve. I am buying the truck to tow shit, now I'm concerned that I might need an additional cooler? That's total B.S.
I would like to assume and trust that Toyota removed the auxiliary cooler because it is really not needed any more. But after seeing videos and the temps from both with and without, it seems
    the cooler does help significantly.

This thread is now 40 pages in... I made it through 15.

What was the end result? Toyota made a change and didn't make it clear to everyone, but it was rolled out at random times?

That is what I bought this truck for. I just retired this year and wanted a mid size truck to pull a small trailer out west. I’m sure that every day normal driving it would be ok, it won’t pulling a trailer, especially out west. Like I said in past posts, I started my search for a Tacoma with the understanding that it came with the cooler. Unfortunately by the time I found one they decided not to include one any longer with out telling us. I believe they stoped installing them in something like April, that coupled with Toyota customer service stating that if I add a third party cooler that causes damage to any other component, no Toyota warranty will cover it. Therefore they should have included one

Pretty much. If your Tacoma didn't come with an automatic trans cooler you need to install one if you want it, at least thats what I did.

So even the new Tacos with the supposed Tow package need aftermarket trans coolers?

At least you know in advance, negotiate with your dealer to either install a oem cooler or discount you the price of having a third party cooler installed
