No, I think it's the stolen tailgate thread.

It makes perfect sense and I can't blame them for robbing a part off another vehicle, but from the sound of your post it's taboo. If that's the case there probably isn't much documentation going on, so it would be easy for them to pull a part on a truck and then lose it in the shuffle.

They probably pulled the part off the OPs truck and then either forgot to order one or they sold it before they got the part.

This is the simplest explanation and usually the simplest explanation is the right one.

It helps, you apparently don't have the air cooler lines after all. I do see the engine oil cooler though, so that's good.

Follow up with your dealer or Toyota directly. It seems doubtful it was a mistake. I wonder if they decided it wasn't needed anymore.

I would think that taking this to any dealership and stating “my standard ATF cooler is missing” would ultimately be the solution regardless of the 5 W’s and H. And/or opening up a case with Toyota.

We use to aquire parts we needed for our trucks in Kuwait from a company that never went north. They didnt understand why they got two connexes full of old used seats when they ordered air ride seats.

Human nature. If my medic unit is short on supplies, I'm going to rob stuff off the reserve truck so I can stay in service while I go to restock. Then we get busy and the next day the other shift wonders why stuff is missing off the reserve truck.

Of course getting fussed at by the oncoming shift isn't the same as selling a stripped truck to a customer.

    Work in progress...
I went out and looked at my 2017 trans cooler, just to make sure it is still there. Don't want to be looking for someone selling a transmission cooler and a tailgate in my neighborhood.

Bring a firearm to Toyota, just in case things go south.
