    UPDATE.....

CHP LOCATES MISSING MAN'S JEEP IN BODIE....
The California Highway Patrol has located the jeep belonging to Jay LaFontaine, but there is still no sign of the missing former Concord resident. LaFontaine went missing over a week ago after taking a trip to Death Valley. His vehicle was located at about noon today in a remote area near Bodie, California.

LaFontaine's family still lives in Concord, they said he was supposed to return home on December 2nd, but he never showed up.

The CHP was searching the Mono County area by helicopter, and located his jeep at about the 10,000 foot level.

According to the Mono County Sheriff's Department, his personal belongings were located inside the jeep, and there were no immediate signs of foul play.

    wow....

The body of a Pleasanton man who was reported missing after failing to return from a camping trip last week has been found more than 200 miles away from home in a park east of Yosemite National Park.A Mono County search and rescue team notified Pleasanton police at 10:30 p.m. Thursday that 48-year-old Jay Lafontaine had been found in Bodie State Park, about three miles from where his black Jeep was found earlier in the day. Lafontaine was expected to return home Dec. 2 and last spoke to his family via his cell phone on Nov. 27, the day he left for the trip, according to Pleasanton police. Investigators believe Lafontaine’s Jeep got stuck in a ravine. Footprints in the snow indicated he was trying to walk out of the area for assistance, police said.

Authorities indicated there were no signs of a struggle or foul play. The cause of his death hasn’t been determined.

    That's sad. R.I.P.

This is why you don't wheel alone. And, if for whatever reason you feel compelled to do so, be sure to let someone know your itinerary and where you're gonna be.

    Wow! That Sucks!

Really makes you think about some of the stupid sheit that many of us have done. Like not following some safety and survival 'rules'

    1) go out with at least one other truck
    2) have emergency equip/survival equip when going out wheeling
    3) have alternative communication equipment (taking HAM test tomorrow)
    4) More than enough water & gas
    5) and on and on...
