trying to combine an RCI trans skid with a different company engine skid,
and it won't fit. Extends long over it,
overlapping underneath, with no room in between to go on top or bolt in from the front
came with carriage bolt hardware (2) for the rear, but hangs at the front
I do have a can of spare Tacoma bolts; I'm sure I can find some for front holes if they fit

but that doesn't resolve dimensional differences resulting in the skids overlapping and essentially "not being compatible with eachother"

I've heard this is common, and solved with cutting/trimming.
Anyone else dealt with this before?

I'm guessing I need to take it to a fabricator, as I don't have an $800 plasma cutter
and if they're an offroad specialist they'll know more about metalworking, shaping, and making the parts work together in a way that they're strong, well-mounted, flush with good clearance, etc.

How'd you solve this on your truck?

That RCI trans skid is meant to go underneath the rear edge of the RCI front skid, which in turn is meant to mount without the front skid supports.

This is so if you bash the skids, the rock or whatever doesn't get caught on a forward-facing "lip", but rather skips "down" from the front skid to the trans skid.

If you install your front skid and leave the rear bolts loose, you should be able to slide the RCI trans skid in underneath it (between the front skid and the frame), install the rear bolts of the RCI trans skid, and then tighten the bolts holding the rear of the front/front of the RCI. That's why the front holes on the RCI trans skid are notches - so you can slide it in.

I have an RC 6" lift and was told it was impossible to add trans and xfer case skid plates since they wouldn't bolt up. After taking some measurements I cut out some cardboard templates and tested it. I went out and bought the RCI trans and xfer case skid plates and made them work. Point is anything is possible if you have a welder and plasma cutter. Plasma cutters don't cost that much anymore. I used one from Amazon $250 and cut the skid plates like butter.
