    A few minor things...
    Hi all,

I posted a little while ago about looking for adjustable rear dampers and I think I have a plan of attack.

I tow my boat a lot and never offroad. One of my rear shocks just started leaking (48k miles, lots of towing) so I'd like to replace the rear set, but while the truck is up in the air I might as well replace the fronts. I run firestone airbags in the back to help while towing, hence the accelerated wear on the rear shocks.

I have a few options that I'd like to explore and I know a lot of people post this stuff all the time, but bear with me...

    First option...

Full set of 5100s and just deal with the rear end being a bit bouncy. $400, stock ride height.

    Second option...

6112/5160 setup with a rear aal for a total of 1.5-2" of lift. I like the AAL because it'll give me more travel in the back and get me further from the airbags internal bump stop (which I have to run about 15 psi always due to the cradles I installed...) Around $1k, I can install it myself.

    Third option...

    OME full suspension replacement.
    Components in this kit include:
    Optional Extras:
    • Extra Leaf
    Estimated Lift:
    • Front: 50MM
    • Rear: 55MM
    Around $1400

    Fourth (and final) Option...

A mix of most of the above...

    6112 front shocks w/ coils $650 ish a pair
Fox 2.0 DC rear shocks (985-26-117 -OR- 985-26-116) Depending on how much lift the AAL will achieve. $700/pair
AAL (not sure which one yet) $100-$200
    Hardware $100

    Total: $1500+

My real question is how much does mixing and matching components affect the ride quality?

The fourth option is the best of all worlds in my eyes. Adjustable damping on the rear shocks for when I tow and commute, Piggy back for improved long-term abuse on long hauls with a trailer, AAL to raise the back end a bit and provide more travel, Already have the airbags and compressor/controller so that's all taken care of.

Or... Am I way over thinking this and I should just replace the rear shocks with something beefier, and maybe ad the AAL...

But that would need a slight lift in the front to make it level... Too many damn options!
