Right on, thanks for the link, I don't know why I haven't seen this before.

The only rubbing I get is turning in reverse at a higher speed, and even then it's not bad.

I got about 15k waiting to go into my final build, maybe when I tear the truck down I will consider knocking that out.

Nice truck! Did you mod you WeatherTech floor mats? If so how hard was it and do you have any picks? Thinking about getting some when I get back home. I figured it wouldn't be too hard but wanted to see someone elses before I pulled the trigger.

    Thanks!

    20Jul17....Back from the dead!

After 5 years of just saving money and being deployed, I have started up my build. I am glad that I took a break, my direction in the build has dramatically changed.

The first major project that I recently started was my electrical system. Without having the basic electrical switching, battery management and power distribution taken care of, I realized that doing any type of build was going to lead to many mistakes and headaches.

I decided to go with the Bussmann 10 relay module to tackle any future needs with hot water, lighting, second fuel tank and high amperage headlights. I will be keeping my factory headlights, but with 100W Osram Lamps. LED lighting has its place and works great, but I have absolutely hate it for driving. I have upgraded the wiring for the headlights and used two of the Bussmann relays for low and high beams. The difference at night is dramatic.
The link below will better explain the specifics of using high output bulbs.

Having the single DIN head unit works great for fitting a clean set of switches.

The 2nd Gen engine bay is setup very well for getting components to fit and still have service access. The one problem that I have been trying to tackle is the location of the ABS controller with the manual transmission, big loss of valuable space.

Slee Off Road is the ticket for mounting the ARB dual, Perfect solution. I am planning on mounting a 1 gal reservoir, but I really do not need it at the moment and won't have spot until the bumpers are mounted.

I spent close to a month trying to decide how I was going to setup my second battery, CTEK charger and distribution blocks. After a couple nights mocking up a mount out of cardboard I came up with a clean setup.

    IMG_9013.jpg

The ABS controller is mounted next to the firewall, passenger side. I almost went with doing a complete relocation which would have been a royal pain in the ass.

    IMG_9177.jpg
    IMG_9178.jpg
    IMG_9184.jpg

Using the two stud/bolts holding the ABS control unit, the bracket was bent and drilled to attach at these studs. The rear section of the bracket was attached to a factory M6 thread on the bulkhead.

    IMG_9251.jpg
Using threadserts, the rest was mounted with M4/M5 hardware.

    IMG_9252.jpg
    IMG_9192.jpg

All of the hardware pictured will be replaced with either nylon to prevent electrical short, or 316 stainless. The distance between the bus bars and hardware are WAY too close for my comfort.

    IMG_9191.jpg
    IMG_9220.jpg

Both batteries will be upgraded to GROUP 31. The auxiliary battery is more than likely going to be mounted in the cab, behind the rear passenger seat.

Six hours and several trips to get hardware, finally got hi-lift and extinguisher mounted. Some of the smallest jobs will kick you down.

    Haha...not doing it...can't make me!
My license plate is there because the builder ran out of mounting kits for my rear bumper and didn't bother telling me when $7000 worth of parts showed up, I spent an hour digging around the hardware bags trying to figure out how the hell to mount my license plate. I'm getting angry just typing this! Because the tow hitch receiver is located behind the license plate, I ended up removing the plate because I had to pick up my trailer. The reason why I was picking up my trailer was because I had to deliver my sliders, front bumper and skid plates to Bay Area Metal Fabrication to get powder coated...they had been delivered bare metal from same said company that ran out of license plate mounting kits, this was an error that originated from them. I wasn't charged, but just wait....

After getting on the freeway to get my trailer, I get pulled over....fix it ticket, no rear license plate. The shop I am going to is an hour and half away....the EXACT location where I had picked up my original shipment, almost two hours away. I gotta stop at this point because I am almost shaking re-living this moment. Long story short, the discount that I was suppose to get back in February for a front bumper, rear bumper, sliders and skids ended up costing me an extra $900 and two days vacation.

I am planning on writing a more detailed review of my experience with this company, but I have way to much stuff on my plate right now.

So to respond to your compliment @sawbladeduller, every time I see the license plate there with zip ties, I get a little wound up. But it is also funny because I keep getting people commenting on the license plate location....and it just makes me laugh.
