Speaking of 600... If you ever decide to put a diesel in there.. I know where there's a pretty modified 12 valve cummins with over 600hp... Be pretty sweet in that.

225 slant 6. Haha it would pull the moon if it were hooked to it.

Fairly cheap upgrade would be magnum heads if it ever had an issue. Or just complete magnum swap better oiling and more pahr

    Haha

    Cool old truck.

Still surprises me these old trucks having small gas engines. Guess the 2 speed rears and split shifting made up for it.

Ya the rear end really makes a difference, but im not sure if I really want to dick with the engine since it runs so good.

    Slowly.
My plow truck has a slant, and I have literally used it to pull trees over in low range/low gear.
But with a load in the bed 0-60 takes most of the afternoon.

The 318 and Slant Six were both very common for these sorts of truck, believe it or not. Commercial trucks didn't used to be built with acceleration in mind, so they got smaller motors for at least a little bit of fuel economy and worked around the lack of power & torque with gearing.

Well so far I have adjusted the clutch got the headlights working and then found out the choke doesnt work to well so theres that, but its sitting, I may sell it to a friend of mine who might actaully use and he has access to diesels so if he gets the truck ill still do this build thread.

My '69 D100 will, but it's got an A833 out of a 70's Dart bolted in behind the 318 rather than an NP435, and it's still not happy about it because the revs are around 3200. So it punishes me by guzzling fuel like you're pouring it down a pipe  I usually try to keep it around 65-70 on the interstate for that reason alone (the wind noise, loud exhaust, and vague steering are separate, reinforcing reasons)

The W150 (slant six) won't go North of 65 without sounding like going to either explode or take flight, even with 3.55's, so I just keep it off the highway period.

    Update!!!!!!!

Im still the proud owner of it and after having 3 potential buyers look at it and drive it and like for the most part, no takers. So im keeping it for now. It had a homeless guy sleeping under it since its been sitting in town for months now so im going to drive it home where its safe and ive got to figure out why its not shifting into 5th gear now, ive adjusted the clutch but it made no difference might just find an old wrecked dodge with a cummmins and swap the engine and trans make a custom shaft and keep the rear diff as is

My Parents had a C class motor home and the over hang from the back bumper to the rear tire was 10'! Always thought you could hit the vehicle beside you with the swing of the over hang if you made a sharpe turn in traffic.
