Lol, a lot factors into the whole thing.

I got a speeding ticket going 80 in a 70 on my way to AZ. Highway patrol was super nice and we had a good conversation as well. Still got the ticket.

1am on my way home from work i got pulled out of my truck at gun point and handcuffed in the back of a squad car cause that cop almost t-boned me at a intersection many years ago! 2 others came and ransacked my truck looking for anything and then they just let me go...

I got a little story about a dickhead of a cop when I was in college...

That happened to me where I was doing an errand at 6AM in college. The cop stated that I had went through two stop signs when I had legitimately stopped, then proceeded to pull me over as I parked at my place and tried to threaten that I was operating my vehicle wrecklessly. As one might expect, pulls the weapon out, tells me to get out of the vehicle, then handcuffs and I get thrown in the back of his squad car. He then attempted to give me a 10 min pep talk saying that I was not being appreciative of the situation.

Normally, I am the one who will constructively argue with a trooper if I feel they are bullshitting. In this case, I was simply too tired to deal with things and just had the casual "sure" approach. Because the cop couldn't "scare" me, he assumed I was being a joker. The genius eventually revealed that he got wind of my truck as he noticed I had aftermarket exhaust on my truck. The truck did have a slightly deeper growl to it, simply because the exhaust was cut before the leaf pack instead of having it after. When he brought this up I asked him to simply look at the exhaust pipe...the dumb ass could not figure out for the life of him that it was simply cut about 1.5 feet earlier. Eventually I get released and the handcuffs removed as the cop slowly figured out I did not have some condescending agenda.

I got hit with wreckless driving and had to go to court. I explained to the judge that I was in transition of moving and had gotten to sleep at about 3AM. That morning I had a thermodynamics final that needed to be dropped off. I executed my morning with the judgement that I was within the law, cop has his perspective...I have mine. Considering the judge must have known this particular cop's antics as he is the sort of dude who will get off an interstate and go the other way for a cracked windshield, he simply gave me an improper driving charge which is quite petty.

A few weeks go by, and I get approached by two cops at my residence while I am inside getting ready for class. They state that my truck still bothers that one fucker of a cop, they said to just keep an eye out for him as he wont let things go. They were just warning me as I think they were getting tired of that cops shit as well. At the end of the day though, my roommate's trans am with custom exhaust is likely the one who first enticed this asshole into our neighborhood.

Don't get me wrong, Im sure there are many more good cops than bad...but damn if situations like these don't make me a skeptic of all of them.

Yea, we hear about the bad stories a lot more than we hear of the good stories I think.

    I have an interesting one...

I was about 18 years old with 3 of my friends, we parked on the side of the LA river in a dirt lot in Paramount to have a little smoke session. We were there about 1 hour and had already smoked a few. Then a cop car pulls into the dirt lot and shines the light directly into our car. So the cops (2 of them) instruct us to get out of the car and keep our hands in the air and all that good stuff. We are all told to put our hands on the hot ass hood of the patrol car while they search our car. We notice that one of the cops was twitching rather aggressively and us being kids in our current mindset and condition thought it was fucking hilarious... almost unbelievable. One of our friends had the stuff in his sock, but yet we all got charged for possession. I ended up going to court to fight it since I had nothing on me. The cop actually showed up and yea, he had a severe case of turrets. Being sober I felt bad, but it made me think how does one become law enforcement with this condition?? Just seems like it could be a liability in certain circumstances....

Yea man very true, I think during a time when scrutiny and PR wasn't as big of a deal and readily recordable it likely was doable to hire the guy. Now a days, all it would take is one recording of that guy flipping to someone who didn't understand and that could get the department a nasty smear. This would likely end in that cop being reassigned to a duty where his condition couldn't impede the public. Don't get me wrong, Im all about guys who have impediments to be successful, but with the bad media cops are getting today and how it only takes one...I too agree that's ALOT of risk to employ someone like that. Unless that cop plans a minimal commitment, its likely just a matter of time in this day and age.

Agreed, in a life or death situation I think the condition could play a huge factor. I may be thinking way too much into it now but what if he was relied upon to take a shot in a hostage situation to save numerous peoples lives and has an episode that ends up getting people in a worse situation.... :notsure: ya never know

As you describe this...its like that movie swat where the pivotal moment in the beginning was the guy taking a risky shot that managed to hit the hostage. In the scope of it, the reality was the shot shouldn't have been made, but I would assume that weapon quals would either grant or eliminate him from using his weapon outside of close encounters. Which does make you wonder what he did do to maintain his weapon skills as the random jerks could majorly affect the trajectory.
