Awesome, I'm glad we are getting a good sized group for this!

As for trail difficulty, Manlaan (also a Greg) will be leading the higher difficulty runs, as his rig should be able to handle the increased difficulty without batting an eyelid.

Less than a month to go!

Well, I still haven't decided which truck I'm going to take down. I'd really like to take the '80, but just not 100% certain on its reliability and how well the carb will do on the hills. If only I had a trailer, I'd probably try to tow it down as its really not that heavy.

That being said, if I take the 02, I'll be a little more reserved since it is my daily driver.

so things that i will be bringing:

    grill (2 burner, 2 1/2-3' x 1-1 1/2' cooking space)
    1-2 coolers, 1 food, 1 beverages
    girlfriend
    dog
    tent & sleeping gear
    couple camp chairs
1-2 tarps and ~20-50 feet of rope
    air compressor
tool box full of hand tools
    jug of water

sounds like we'll be going out for dinner friday, but could save $$ by having some food at camp as much as possible...

so eggs, bacon, burgers, dogs things of those sorts could be grilled up for breakfast/dinner...will need more than my grill tho to feed multiple parties

Stoked for this trip! I'm all armored up so I'm down to hit some harder trails as well.

Are we doing expedition style camping or are we setting up a base camp?

^ I think Jan has a pretty sweet spot picked out for a base camp.

Just a though but I think it would be a good idea to share some phone numbers just in case people are running late or get separated from the group. If you want to PM me your number I’ll send you mine and I’ll compile a list.

It would also be nice if everybody could bring some firewood. (Jan we can have a fire were we are camping correct?)

Another helpful item to have would be a set of hand held radios.

I might be able to make this, because Friday is a school day for me, so if I do make it I'll probably be there after 5pm and I have to leave Sunday night :pout:

Fire is not a problem. Of course we do have to bring our own wood. I brought out around 9-10 bundles last time, which lasted for 2 nights plus a little left over. If everyone could bring 1-2 bundles, I think that'd end up working out pretty good.

Also, make sure to bring water (more than just drinking water), as its good to have something to fully put out the fire, etc. Not everyone needs to bring some, but if a few people (besides me) have 5 gal jugs laying around, it'd be helpful.

I am planning on heading up either thursday or friday (probably leaving friday morning), so I'll probably be one of the first ones there. The bad part about cell phones is there is no service at the camp site, so for those that might be showing up at night, if you dont think you can find it in the dark, you might want to have a backup plan. Of course there is always the chance that our camp spot is taken as well.

TO all UTAH based Tacoma's : when do you plan to head down to moab, i wouldn't mind leaving early Friday or late Friday depending on peoples schedules. So that a couple of Tacomas are all caravaning down there together .... interested ? its a 4 hour drive I'd rather go down with someone then no one... pm me if interested maybe we can figure out a time we all or most of us can leave

to everyone else- food wise is it bring your own feed your own ? or is every one else wanting to bring a little pitch in altogether ?
im for either but NYCO was the only person that i've noticed that even brought up the food situation...

im thinkin its probably a better idea for everyone to do their own food thing... that way no one gets screwed by buying everything for another party(if that makes sense). common things, i can see sharing like stoves and water and stuff like that. i will def be bringin a ton of water and i can bring some wood too. btw! CO tacos. im goin to travel to Glenwood Springs thursday night. (girlfriend's moms house) then im hopin to meet up with u guys if possible as u pass by Glenwood. ideas?

Me and kayla have off Friday so we can leave whenever, got to figure out jeff's plans whether he's caravaning out with us, but u name a time and location in glenwood off 70 and I'll be there..maybe 9-10 or 11 in glenwood? Get there early afternoon?

When are most people showing up? Maybe set up/establish base camp then meet the rest of the pack in town for drinks?

Yes, everyone should plan on bringing enough food to feed themselves.

Good idea. Everyone who arrives earlier should feel free to head straight to the campsite to get set up.

I will be at the site most of Friday afternoon, and will wait for people to show up.

    ORIGINAL POST UPDATED!

Hello, and welcome to the "official" May 2011 Tacoma World Moab Meet!

    May 13th-15th (Friday through Sunday)

    • Trails for all experience levels.

[*]Feel free to invite friends, family, etc.

[*]The majority of the group will be camping.

[*]Bring your own food, feel free to share.

[*]Grill’s would be appreciated, campsite may not have traditional firepits.

[*]Bring wood for your own campfire, we may be at separate campsites.

[*]Bring one gallon of water, per day, per person.

    The Plan

    Friday: Meet, dinner, camping...

Noon-4pm: Meet at campsite HERE, set up tents.

5-6pm: Meet ‘n greet in the Comfort Suites parking lot.

6pm: Dinner at the Moab Brewery.

Later: Head back to campsite, relax by campfire and enjoy s’mores

    Saturday: (Fins N Things)...

There is an entrance fee. I am 99% sure it is less than $10.

~9am: Begin drive to Fins N’ Things

~10am: Meet here and wait for everyone to arrive.

10:30am: Move to trailhead, begin trail run.

This trail will take most of the day.

Saturday afternoon/evening: Regroup after completing Fins N Things, discuss plans.

    Sunday: TBD

    General Notes

    • The campsite we are hoping to use as a group may be occupied (first come, first serve), so be prepared to find your own campsite.
[*]There are many small campsites between Moab and the planned campsite; we may have to split up, but there should be room for everyone.
    • The bathroom is a 5 minute drive from the campsite.
    • There is no running water at the campsite/nearby.
    • Here is a PDF file containing lots of camping options in the Moab area.
    • Hotel options, if you'd rather not camp.

Pics from the planned camping spot (taken February 2011)
