Just as an FYI the Rally on the Rocks (UTVs and side-side) event is going on the same weekend we will be down in Moab. I don't think it will affect us in any way but just in case somebody wanted to swing by they are having a lot of vendors at the event such as Warn.

Just thought I'd throw this out there... If you have any RC toys or anything you'd like to bring out, there should be plenty of open space at the camp site. A co-worker talked me into buying my first RC item, a Traxxas Rustler VXL, which I'll be taking along with me to goof around with at at the camp.

I'm bringing my mtn bike(s)... but I'm guessing I'll be the only one bringing bikes.

    Great idea though, Greg.

I think we should see who can jump Greg's RC truck the furthest off the canyon!

Me too, me too. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to be able to take my blue truck or not... :/ So many pros and cons, but it all comes down to how the carb is going to run. I did get some (fire-resistant) firewood today though, so at least thats something.

Still need to install my front and rear recovery shackle mounts (delivery on friday), put together a bit of the interior (today), test how the carb is going to behave on hills (tomorrow with Jan), and figure out what I'm going to do about food (next week - I think I'll just bring easy snack type food so I dont have to think about cooking). Toss in an oil change and fluid checks and I should be set... I hope.

As far as a proper shake down goes, anyone wanna hit up rattlesnake, or at least the fireroads at 5 mile on sunday? Granted i'm going tomorrow also, but I'm also planning for sunday in case I have any extra tuneups I need to take care of. I'm mostly just concerned about steep hills myself, as thats whats flooding the engine, so I can do what I need to on easy trails just as well as on hard trails.

I'll have my FRS radio, CB, and since I'm new HAM I'll have brand spanking new handheld Yaesu FT60. I originally wanted to get my mobile rig and installed but I'm short on time. Any other HAMs going?

any new updates on people's thoughts for sunday's trail? jace and i were looking to get on the road by 3pm and would definitely like to get a harder trail under our belts before shipping back to denver...poison spider has been tossed around...any other suggestions for trails with similar difficulties?

The bonus about doing Poison Spider is that its really close to the camp site. We will actually pass the entrance between the camp and the main road out of Moab. The bad about it is that there isn't a way out, except to backtrack. (unless people really wanted to try Golden Spike... 4+ out of 5 rating and then Gold Bar back to the road. It would be a long day though and making it out before 3 wouldn't be likely to happen, but then again, making it out by 3 may not happen anyway depending on how many vehicles are with us.)

Hells Revenge might be a good option, as it doesn't require backtracking and does have bypasses for most of the harder places. Since we've had already been to Fins, I think we'd be fine for the second day there as well. Then there's potato salad hill if people wanted to attempt it if they have time after.

do you keep ms crickett in the truck with you, or does she do a good job off leash and follow you? i don't think i'd trust my dog off leash outside the truck, but i think that's awesome that some dogs can do that...shiba's aren't really known for their off-leash behavior unfortunately

When we are driving, she stay's in the car.... however when she's not at risk of becoming a speedbump, she is free to roam (a.k.a. bug any nearby human with a tennis ball, stick, bottlecap, etc. that she demands be thrown).

    One week!!
