Search skills are not providing what I'm looking for.

I have three skid plates from Skid Row Offroad. Front, Transmission, and Transfer Case.

I've seen skid plates for lower control arms on the 2nd gens... which is why I began my search on other options for armor on the 1st gen.

What would ya'll recommend? Anything (other than what I already have) you would HIGHLY recommend?

The kind of armor where you were finished with a day of trail blazing and at the end you were saying "dayum, why the hell didn't I get those ____ skids?"

This truck is a DD. Preservation is fairly important.

If you have skids back to your transfer case, you're pretty well covered. You don't need LCA skids - our LCA's are pretty beefy. Some people like a rear diff skid, and others don't (saying that they are mud collectors); most don't run them as the rear diff is pretty beefy itself. I think maybe the only thing to be kinda worried about there is the drain hole/plug. BAMF (@JLee) makes a rear diff skid, but it's not cheap.

I think the more important thing with skids is that they have gusseting in the right places to support impact. A skid that's just 3/16" steel, with little/no/poorly positioned gusseting will help, but will easily deform when you hit something. Check out all the gusseting on these second gen BAMF skids at the bend on the front, and in the mid-skid. That's the stuff that protects your truck.

I've also been really happy with my @RelentlessFab skids; which I have back past my transfer case as well. They too have good gusseting, esp at the front.

uh..those aren't relentless skids. Those are BAMF 1/4'' skids ;)

Im trying to get Jerry to make a set of skids similar to this photo for 1st gens as the skids in that photo are for 2nd gens. We need 30 people to sign up though for him to R&D them. Click the link in my sig.

I would brother if I had a first gen! BAMF skids IMO are the epitome of quality skids, and they still come in 1/4!"

Seriously, it's worth buying one of these if you wheel moderate to difficult trails. I learned the hard way that the stock one isn't the best

At $200, it's going on the list for sure.

I also want one of those high-clearance rear bumpers with the wrap around protection for the back-lower end of the bed (departure mishaps, you know).

I think that's a custom job though. I found a couple of really nice ones on the forum. All were done by the owner of the truck... and I don't possess those kind of skills.

Relentless fab makes a wrap around.

Cbi makes a wrap around and one you cut the bedsides.

I'm looking for this, from the "Show off your DIY armor!" thread.
Add a couple of tow points or perhaps a 2" receiver hitch and it's zactly what I want.

I'll probably wind up running it by Jake at Adventure Offroad. Support a local fabricator. That and something like the front bumper from post #307 of that same DIY thread. WIN!

that style of bumper is super easy to make. Just a 5x3 inch tube really and a little bit of 1.5'' tubing. Local guy shouldn't have a problem making that.

    Good to hear!

I was just wondering. Does the 1st Gen rear axle need to be trussed? I'm coming from a WJ Grand Cherokee BTW. That's the reason why I ask.

How about the E-Locker assembly attached to the pumpkin?

Depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. Most the time no the axle is fine.

There are skids for the elocker..but I don't think they are necessary

Nice skids for sure. If you abuse them though they bend.
